This day is celebrated by World Hypertension League (WHL) on 17 May annually. The first World Hypertension Day was observed on May 14, 2005, by the World Hypertension League, an umbrella organization of 85 national hypertension societies, with an aim to increase awareness about the condition. The following year the day was observed on May 17 and has been an annual practice since then. World Hypertension League aims not only to raise awareness about hypertension but also of its factors and prevention methods since it affects more than a billion people.
The theme for World Hypertension Day 2022 was 'Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control it, Live Longer. The theme focuses to combat low awareness rates worldwide, especially in low to middle-income areas with accurate blood pressure measurement methods.

World Telecommunication Day is observed every year on 17 May. It marks the founding of ITU when the first International Telegraph Convention was signed in Paris on 17 May, 1865. It is also known as World Telecommunication and International Society Day. Since 1969, it has been celebrated annually.

Sikkim 47th Statehood Day
On May 16, 1975, Sikkim became the 22nd state of India. Each year, it marks the occasion with a holiday and a series of events. Year 2022 marked 47 years since Sikkim officially became a state of India. On May 15, 1975, then President of India, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, signed a constitutional amendment, and, a day later, Sikkim became the 22nd state of India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind as well as several Ministers also extended their best wishes to the state and people of Sikkim on the occasion.

The National Museum (New Delhi), National Gallery of Modern Art (New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru), Allahabad Museum (Prayagraj), Indian Museum (Kolkata), Victoria Memorial Hall (Kolkata), Salar Jung Museum (Hyderabad) and Science cities and centers under National Council of Science Museums (in 24 locations across India) are undertaking special initiatives throughout the designated week.
The Ministry of Culture has already announced free entry for visitors to all the museums across the country under the Ministry of Culture during the week 16th to 20th May,2022.

International Nurses Day
Every year International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May to commemorate the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birthday. This day also celebrates the contribution done by nurses to society around the world. On this day the International Council of Nurses organisation produces an International Nurses kit to educate and assist health workers globally with a different theme every year.
The theme for 2022 Nurses' Day was "Nurses: A Voice to Lead - Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health".
International Day of Plant Health
The United Nations designated 12 May the International Day of Plant Health (IDPH) to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect biodiversity and the environment, and boost economic development. The United Nations declared 2020 as the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH).
The Year was extended until 1 July 2021 due to the postponement of some key initiatives caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment, and boost economic development.

11 May - National Technology Day
Every year, National Technology Day is observed on May 11th to recognise the achievements and outstanding contributions of scientists and engineers in the science and technology field. The first National Technology Day in India was observed on May 11, 1998, to commemorate the Pokhran Nuclear Tests held at the Indian Army's Pokhran Test Range in Rajasthan. The day holds great importance because India joined the elite group of countries with nuclear weapons. The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology is vested with the responsibility to organise a large-scale event to celebrate National Technology Day on May 11th.
The theme for 2022 is "Integrated Approach in Science & Technology for Sustainable Future". The theme was launched by Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
