Jharkhand Unveil Ambitious 'Tourism Policy 2021'

Jharkhand launched its Tourism Policy 2021' in New Delhi with a vision to revive and revamp the state's tourism sector.
The new policy focuses on promotion of religious, eco, adventure, wellness, rural, and mining tourism.
It offers a host of incentives and subsidies to attract investors across the nation and abroad.
Jharkhand has truly embarked on a journey to establish itself as one of the premier tourist destinations in India.
Security, which is a pertinent issue for tourism to thrive in any state, will be ensured by positioning a Tourist Security Force, 24-hour helpline and a central control room.
The new policy seeks to build upon a holistic approach, which takes into account rural tourism and the local economy, and at the same time, makes room for the modern and urban traveller.
The key focus area is to develop Parasnath, Madhuban and Itkhori as places of religious pilgrimage.

Varanasi to be 1st Cultural and Tourism Capital of SCO

The holy city of Varanasi showcasing India's culture and traditions over the ages will be declared the first Cultural and Tourism Capital of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
The Beijing-headquartered Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is an eight-member economic and security alliance comprising China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan.
Varanasi would become the Cultural and Tourism Capital of the SCO for 2022-23 under a new rotating initiative by the eight-member organisation to promote people-to-people contacts and tourism among the member states.
Under this initiative, each year a city of the cultural heritage of a member country that will take over the rotating Presidency of the organisation would get the title to highlight its prominence.
The organisation's new initiatives ahead of this year's Heads of the State summit of the SCO scheduled to be held at Samarkand in Uzbekistan on September 15-16, 2022. The new initiative would come into force after the Samarkand summit following which India would take over the Presidency and host the next Heads of the State summit.

Gurugram's Kingdom of Dreams Sealed over Non-payment

The Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSPV) sealed Gurugram's key tourist attraction 'Kingdom of Dreams' over non-payment of pending dues of around Rs. 100 crore.
India's first live entertainment, theatre and leisure centre was set up on 6 acres of HSVP land. According to the lease, the centre was owned by the Great Indian Nautanki Company and had to pay around Rs. 34 lakh rent every month. The company had not paid it since long and after repeated notices.

Centre's New Railway Line Project will Link 2 States, 3 Religious Places

The Narendra Modi government approved the Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road new railway line to provide connectivity and mobility.
The estimated cost of this project is Rs. 2798.16 crores and would be completed by 2026-27. The new railway line would connect two states, three religious places and would reduce the load on the main railway line.
The proposed rail line would traverse through the Sirohi district of Rajasthan and Sabarkantha, Banaskantha and Mahesana districts of Gujarat.
Taranga is a three-peaked hill and is situated in Mehsana district of Gujarat. It is significant for both the Buddhists and the Jains. According to Gujarat tourism website, the oldest Jain temple was built in the 12th century whole the Buddhist monuments date back to the fourth century on this hill.

Ahmedabad & Kerala Features in TIME Magazine's The World's Greatest Places of 2022

Two locations from India were named among "50 extraordinary destinations to explore" this year by TIME Magazine. The southern state of Kerala and Ahmedabad, the largest city of Gujarat were the two Indian entries into the list of the world's greatest places of 2022.
Kerala is one of India's most beautiful states. With spectacular beaches and lush backwaters, temples, and palaces, it's known as "God's own country" for good reason.
About Ahmedabad, TIME Magazine said that "as India's first UNESCO World Heritage City, Ahmedabad "boasts both ancient landmarks and contemporary innovations that make it a mecca for cultural tourism, from the serene Gandhi Ashram that sits on 36 acres on the banks of the Sabarmati River to Navratri, a vibrant nine-day celebration billed as the longest dance festival in the world."
The list also includes Ras Al Khaimah, UAE; Park City, Utah; Seoul; Great Barrier Reef, Australia; The Arctic; Valencia, Spain; Trans Bhutan Trail, Bhutan; International Space Station; Bogota; Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia; Istanbul and Kigali, Rwanda.
According to TIME Magazine, the World's Greatest Places list is compiled through nominations from its international network of correspondents and contributors, "with an eye toward those offering new and exciting experiences."

Maharashtra Metro, NHAI Create New Record for Longest Double Decker Viaduct

Team Maharashtra Metro & team NHAI achieved a world record in Nagpur by: -Constructing longest Double Decker Viaduct (3.14 KM) with Highway Flyover & Metro Rail Supported on single column pier.
Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records recognised this engineering feat. They also recognised another record of constructing three metro stations on a double-decker viaduct.

Akasa Air Gets Air Operator Certificate

Akasa Air received the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from aviation regulator DGCA and will start commercial operations later this month.
The grant of the AOC marks the satisfactory completion of all regulatory and compliance requirements for the airline's operational readiness.
Following the government's initiative to usher in a new era of digitisation, Akasa Air is the first airline whose end-to-end AOC process was conducted using the government's progressive eGCA digital platform.
