Goa to Host First Ever World Table Tennis (WTT) Series Event in India

Goa will host India's first ever World Table Tennis (WTT) series event from February 27 to March 5. The top tier WTT Star Contender Goa 2023 will take place at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor stadium, located at the Goa University Campus. Stupa Analytics, a homegrown sports analytics firm, will be the tournament host with active support from the Goa government.
WTT Series is the official professional table tennis series of events, with the world's best players facing each other off in various category tournaments throughout the year with the four Grand Smashes being the ultimate prize to win.
World Table Tennis (WTT) was created by the International Table Tennis Federation in 2019 to create and manage professional men's and women's Table Tennis events around the world. The WTT organizes a series of events around the year and the highest ranked tournament being the four Grand Smashes.

Viacom18 Gets Broadcast Rights of Olympic Games Paris 2024

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that Viacom18 Media Private Limited (Viacom18) secured the exclusive media rights to broadcast the Olympic Games Paris 2024, plus non-exclusive rights to the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024, in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Through the agreement, Viacom18 will provide multi-platform coverage of the Games, and free-to-air television coverage within the region. In 2024 Olympics will be hosted by France in Paris, beginning from July 26 to August 11.
The IOC works with media companies worldwide to ensure that as many people as possible can experience the magic of the Olympic Games. The Olympic media partnerships also contribute valuable revenue that provides the long-term financial security of the Olympic Movement.
The next Olympic Games will be held in Paris, France, from 26 July to 11 August 2024, and in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, in Italy, in 2026.

Ramiz Raja Removed as Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman

Former cricketer Ramiz Raja was removed as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by the country's government, which appointed a 14-member committee, headed by Najam Sethi, to run the affairs of the game for the next four months.
The Pakistan government removed Raja following the team's 3-0 whitewash by England in the Test series.
The developments confirmed speculation that Sharif, who is the patron-in-chief of the PCB, had decided to appoint Sethi as the new chairman of the country's cricket body.
Raja served as PCB chairman for 15 months after he was appointed by former Premier Imran Khan to head the board in September 2021.

Aman Sehrawat Wins Gold at Senior National Wrestling Championship

World under-23 champion Aman Sehrawat claimed the gold medal in the men's 57 kg freestyle at the Senior National Wrestling Championships at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kochi, Kerala. Aman defeated Udit of Haryana to finish at the top.
Rahul and Atish Todkar won the bronze medals.

Rehan Ahmed Becomes Youngest to Claim Five-wicket Haul on Test Debut

England's leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed became the youngest men's Test cricketer to take a five-wicket haul on debut during the third match against Pakistan at the National Bank Cricket Arena. After making his Test debut at 18 years and 126 days, Rehan claimed three wickets in six overs on his way to 5-48 in the second innings, playing a key role in bowling out Pakistan for 216 in 74.5 overs on day three of the match. Rehan's brilliant display helped him set England a 167-run target to clinch the series 3-0.
Rehan broke the record of now-Australian captain, right-arm fast-bowler Pat Cummins, who was 18 years and 193 days when he took 6-79 on his Test debut against South Africa in 2011.

France's Karim Benzema Announced Retirement from International Football

France footballer Karim Benzema announced his retirement from International football. Benzema ended his time with France with 37 goals in 97 appearances, but his time with the squad has not been easy since his debut 15 years ago. When Benzema made his debut for France against Austria in March 2007, he scored while playing as a substitute.
He was chosen for France's Euro 2008 team, however after the team was eliminated early, he faced criticism for his efforts. Benzema was left out of France's squad for the 2010 World Cup despite participating in the qualification campaign on a regular basis. He was included in the France team again for Euro 2020, and he ended up being the third-highest scorer with four goals.

Mbappe Gets Golden Boot at FIFA World Cup 2022

Some of the biggest names in football were recognised with Lionel Messi from Argentina confirmed as the best player at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
The Argentinian forward won the Adidas Golden Ball, which is awarded to the best player by the FIFA Technical Study Group.
Kylian Mbappe from France and Luka Modric from Croatia came second and third respectively.
The Adidas Golden Boot was won by Mbappe, with eight goals and two assists. Messi collected the Silver Boot and Olivier Giroud from France the Bronze.
