Indian Hotels Expands Presence in Uttarakhand with New Resort

  • Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) announced the addition of its second hotel in Rishikesh with the signing of a new SeleQtions resort.
  • The formerly operating resort will be rebranded as Anand Kashi, an IHCL SeleQtions resort post renovation.
  • The 24-room resort is located at the foothills of the Himalayas in the Tehri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.
  • With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have seven hotels across brands, including three under development in Uttarakhand.

Kerala's First Caravan Park to Come Up in Vagamon

  • Kerala's first Caravan park is all set to come up in Vagamon, a scenic hill station located in Idukki district.
  • The park, first of its kind in Kerala, as part of the state government's new Caravan Tourism policy, would be thrown open to travellers on February 25.
  • Caravan Tourism was introduced by the state Tourism department as a safe means for holidaying at a time when people are unable to step out or travel due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
  • Under the initiative, there will be two types of caravans. In one model, two guests shall be accommodated, while the other is for a family of four. The tourism caravans would have all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay such as sofa-cum-bed, kitchenette with fridge and microwave oven, dining table, toilet cubicle, partition behind the driver, air-conditioner, internet connectivity, audio-video facilities, charging system and GPS.

FAITH Releases India Tourism Vision Document 2035

  • Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) released the FAITH 2035 vision document containing goals and an execution path for making Indian tourism preferred and loved by the world by the year 2035. The vision document was launched commemorating the 75th year of Indian independence. It aims to position tourism as a 'Social-Economic Job and Infrastructure creator for India' as well as 'to be a role model for creating Sustainable and Inclusive Ecosystem'.
  • FAITH is the policy federation of all the national associations representing the complete tourism, travel and hospitality industry of India. It aims to position tourism as a 'Social-Economic Job and Infrastructure creator for India' as well as 'to be a role model for creating Sustainable and Inclusive Ecosystem'.

Govt. Signs MoU with Alliance Air Aviation to Boost Tourism in India

  • The Union Ministry of Tourism (MoT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Alliance Air Aviation Limited (AAAL) to boost tourism throughout the country.
  • The ministry endeavours to position India as a preferred destination in the tourism-generating markets, whereas AAAL, with its vast domestic network, plays a vital role in the promotion of tourism in the country.
  • The MoU was signed with a view to achieve the common purpose of joint domestic promotion and considering the need to synergise the activities of MoT and AAAL in the tourism markets.
  • Alliance Air is the frontrunner in promoting the government's Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), which is being promoted under the Prime Minister's UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme.

Kerala village Aymanam on List of 30 Best Places to Visit in 2022

  • Aymanam, a quaint village in Kerala made it to the Condé Nast's list of 30 best places to visit in the world in 2022.
  • Featured alongside locations in countries like US, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Singapore, Japan and Egypt on the list, Aymanam's tourism initiatives were awarded in 2021 for its focus on boosting local employment and nature conservation. Other places in India that made it to the list were Bhimtal, Sikkim, Odisha, Goa, Kolkata among others.
  • Travellers to Aymanam can experience bird-watching, long walks through paddy fields, visit temples and churches, taste rich coconut-preparations, hop on boat rides and watch performances of Kathakali and martial artform Kalaripayattu.
  • The village, located on the idyllic backwaters in Kottayam district, has Lake Vembanad to its west and is also bordered by the Meenachil River.
