Kashmir Sees Record Tourist Arrivals this Year, Highest in a Decade
Kashmir, the Heaven on Earth received a record-breaking tourist footfall this year, the highest in a decade.
The major attraction for tourists is Asia's largest "tulip garden" which was opened for visitors on March 23. People are enjoying the beauty of 1.5 million multicoloured tulips under the foothills of the Zabarwan Mountains.

Army Dedicates First Floating Hamlet On Srinagar's Dal Lake To Citizens
The Army dedicated the soft launch of Kashmir's first floating hamlet on the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesperson said. Lt Gen Pandey said Dal Lake is the jewel in the crown of Kashmir and keeping it clean was the responsibility of all citizens and especially those who have made the lake their home.
Residents of Kachri Mohalla appreciated the Union Territory government and the Army's efforts in highlighting the initiative and urged the corps commander and the divisional commissioner to request Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to visit the hamlet.

World's Biggest Electric Cruise Ship Sets Sail in China
The world's largest electric cruise ship made its maiden voyage, settling back into port in Yichang in China's central Hubei province after cruising up and down the Yangtze River. Powered by a massive 7,500 kilowatt-hour marine battery from the world's No. 1 battery manufacturer for electric cars, Contemporary Amperex Technology, the ship will go into commercial operations from next month, being used mainly for sightseeing trips.
At 100 meters long and around 16 meters wide, the Yangtze River Three Gorges 1 can carry up to 1,300 passengers. It can travel for around 100 kilometers on a single charge, saving around 530 metric tons of fuel. Developer China Yangtze Power plans to use the ship as a starting point to expand China's marine electric vehicle market.

Kerala Launches WhatsApp Chatbot for Tourists
Kerala Tourism launched 24×7 WhatsApp chatbot 'Maya' to enable tourists get information and updates on tourism ecosystem in the state by sending a 'Hi' to the WhatsApp no: 7510512345 or by scanning the QR code.
Maya would act as a virtual travel assistant of tourists to ask and get complete information for hassle-free travel experience.
Maya would assist tourists to also know about experience-oriented locations, never-miss spots, historical places, eco-tourism, arts and culture hubs, festivals, local food, visa information, Covid-19 protocol, weather update, and provides links to the official Kerala Tourism social media pages.

India Restores 5-year E-tourist Visas
The government in March restored all valid five-year e-tourist visas - suspended since March 2020 because of the Covid pandemic - to nationals of 156 countries with immediate effect. Nationals of these countries will also be eligible for issuance of fresh e-visas for tourists as per existing rules.
The government also said it would similarly restore valid regular (paper) long-duration (10 years) tourist visas for US and Japanese nationals, as well as permit issue of fresh visas to citizens of both countries.
"The government took the step keeping in view the improvement in the Covid-19 situation in the country and considering the need for further relaxation of visa and travel restrictions.
