Keiko Fujimori Walks Free from Jail

Peruvian opposition leader Keiko Fujimori walked free from prison after being jailed for more than a year pending a trial over allegations she accepted illegal campaign contributions from Brazilian construction firm Odebrecht.
Fujimori, leader of the powerful right-wing Popular Force party, left prison in the Chorrillos district of capital city Lima.
The country's Constitutional Tribunal, Peru's top court, ordered her release after she was handed an 18-month pre-trial sentence in October last year.
Fujimori is the daughter of Peru's ex-President Alberto Fujimori, who is serving a 25-year sentence for human rights crimes and graft.

After his failed rebellion and 'return', he is essentially back to his old role — holding important meetings and addressing legislators. He is among the key leaders who devised the strategy for the floor test, and the upcoming Speaker's election.

Japan's Ex-Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone Dies at 101

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone, a giant of his country's post-World War II politics who pushed for a more assertive Japan while strengthening military ties with the United States, has died. He was 101.
The office of his son, Hirofumi Nakasone, confirmed that Nakasone died Friday at a Tokyo hospital where he was recently treated.
As a World War II navy officer, Yasuhiro Nakasone witnessed the depths of his country's utter defeat and devastation. Four decades later, he presided over Japan in the 1980s at the pinnacle of its economic success.
In recent years, he lobbied for revision of the war-renouncing U.S.-drafted constitution, a longtime cause that no postwar leader has achieved to date.

Former RBI Deputy Governor H R Khan To Head Micro-Finance Panel

Former deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), H R Khan has been appointed as the first chairman of the steering committee of the Code for Responsible Lending (CRL) in micro-credit.
The CRL is a self-regulatory step for the micro-credit industry making diverse entities like banks, NBFC-MFIs and NBFCs adhere to standards of customer protection.
CRL was launched in September by MFIN and Sa-Dhan, an RBI-recognised association of MFIs, along with Finance Industry Development Council, an association of NBFCs.

Noted Tamil Actor and Theatre Artiste Bala Singh Dies

Noted Tamil actor and theatre artiste Bala Singh died following brief illness.
A renowned actor, he made his debut in M Nasser-directed 'Avatharam' and went on to feature in many films, donning a variety of roles, including those with negative shades.
His notable performances include Kamal Haasan's directorial venture 'Virumandi' and actor Dhanush's 'Puthupetta', a gangster flick.

Former Indian Navy Chief Sushil Kumar Dies

Former Indian Navy Chief Admiral Sushil Kumar died at a military hospital in New Delhi following a brief illness.
The former Navy chief passed away at the age of 79.
Sushil Kumar was Navy Chief from 1998-2001.
He authored a book named "A Prime Minister to Remember- Memories of a Military Chief" which highlighted the key defence-related decisions taken by late former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Admiral Kumar was the 16th Chief of Naval Staff and oversaw naval operations during the Kargil conflict of 1999.

Pakistan Appoints Asim Saleem Bajwa as Chairman of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority

Pakistan government appointed Lt-Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa as the first chairman of the newly-established China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority with an aim to ensure timely completion of the multi-billion dollar projects.
The CPEC is a planned network of roads, railways and energy projects linking China's resource-rich Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region with Pakistan's strategic Gwadar Port on the Arabian Sea.
The CPEC was launched in 2015 when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Islamabad and it now envisages investment of over USD 60 billion in different projects of development in Pakistan.
The new chairman will get MP-I scale for a period of four years from the date of assuming the charge of the office with immediate effect and until further orders.
The basic aim of the authority is to ensure timely completion of the CPEC projects. The prime minister has said the CPECA will help ensure coordination among the departments concerned.

Subhash Chandra Resigns as Chairman of Zee Entertainment Enterprises

Media mogul Subhash Chandra resigned as chairman of his flagship company Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), with immediate effect.
While accepting his resignation, the board said that this is in line with the SEBI Listing Regulations that prohibit chairperson of the board from being related to the managing director or the chief executive officer of the company.
The firm also said that its board has been reconstituted and three new independent directors R. Gopalan, Surendra Singh and Aparajita Jain have been appointed in lieu of two independent and one nominee directors of Essel Group, promoter of Zee Entertainment.
The reconstituted board consists of six independent directors and two members from the Essel Group.

Artist Milon Mukherjee passes away

Artist Milon Mukherjee passed away peacefully at the age of 81.
Mukherjee, who had worked with the Times of India group for more than 25 years, had created illustrations for more than 21 of its publications during his stint.
The Kolkata-born Mukherjee had his first art show in Paris. After that, Mukherjee exhibited his work in shows across the world. He traveled widely during the 60s and 70s through the Himalayas and several countries of Europe.
Apart from being a painter and artist he was also an author, singer, actor, poet and a voice-over artist. The Indo-German Society presented him with the Professor Langhammer Painter of the Year award in 1978.

K Pop Star Found Dead

K-pop star and TV celebrity Goo Hara was found dead at her home in Seoul on November 24, 2019.
An acquaintance found the 28-year-old dead at her home in southern Seoul and reported it to authorities. The cause of death wasn't immediately known.
Goo made her debut in 2008 as a member of the girl group Kara, which had big followings in South Korea, Japan and other Asian countries. She later worked as a solo artist and appeared on many TV shows.
