Maharashtra Government has launched a 'Cyber Safe Women' initiative under which awareness camps will be held across all the districts of the state regarding cyber safety.
The initiative will help in educating women about how the web is used by anti-social elements and child predators to commit various types of crimes.
Ayushman Bharat: 171 Hospitals De-Empanelled, ₹4.5 Cr Fine Imposed For Fraud
A total 171 hospitals have been de-empanelled and penalties to the tune of ₹4.5 crore have been imposed on hospitals for allegedly committed fraud and indulging in malcpractices under the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme.
FIRs have been lodged against six hospitals in Uttarakhand and Jharkhand.
The NHA said the National Anti-Fraud Unit has detected suspect e-cards on the basis of algorithms developed internally by it and shared with states for due diligence and action.

China Pneumonia Outbreak
Chinese authorities have launched an investigation into a mysterious viral pneumonia which has infected dozens of people in the central city of Wuhan.
The outbreak has prompted Singapore and Hong Kong to bring in screening processes for travellers from the city.
It comes amid online fears the virus could be linked to Sars, or severe acute respiratory syndrome.
The potentially deadly, flu-like Sars virus killed more than 700 people around the world in 2002-03, after originating in China.
Fix Pupil-teacher Ratio for All Disabled Kids
The state commissioner for persons with disabilities directed the Delhi government, the three municipal corporations and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to immediately hire at least two special educators per school who specialise in various forms of physical or intellectual disabilities.
The move is aimed at correcting the skewed pupil-teacher ratio for children with special needs in city schools.
The directions were given after consulting with experts and interacting with parents of children with disabilities.
The commissioner has also instructed all the above mentioned bodies to maintain different pupil-teacher ratio for different disabilities. The schools should cater the needs of children with special needs as per their requirements.

US Announces Ban on Flavoured E-cigarettes
The US announced a countrywide ban on some e-cigarette flavours amid concerns about vaping among teens.
The ban applies to mint and fruit flavours that are offered in cartridge-based e-cigarettes, like the popular pods sold by Juul.
The US will continue to allow menthol and tobacco flavours, as well as fruit flavours delivered in other ways.
The action has been under consideration for more than a year, with several states passing similar rules.
South Korea, India, Brazil are among the dozens of countries that have announced sweeping vaping bans. Others, like China, have announced restrictions.
Testicular Cancer
As per doctors, testicular cancer can be treated successfully with fewer rounds of toxic chemotherapy drugs.
A study on 246 patients showed a single cycle of chemo was just as effective as the standard two cycles.
But the "shorter, kinder and cheaper" approach reduced the side-effects for cancer patients.
Experts believe having less chemotherapy would make a huge difference to quality of life.
Testicular cancer is quite rare, affecting around 2,400 people in the UK each year.

AI Outperforms Doctors Diagnosing Breast Cancer
Artificial intelligence is more accurate than doctors in diagnosing breast cancer from mammograms, a study in the journal Nature suggests.
An international team, including researchers from Google Health and Imperial College London, designed and trained a computer model on X-ray images from nearly 29,000 women.
The algorithm outperformed six radiologists in reading mammograms.
AI was still as good as two doctors working together.
Unlike humans, AI is tireless. Experts say it could improve detection.
India Leaves China Way Behind in Births
According to UNICEF, oOn New Year's Day, January 1, an estimated 67,385 babies were born in India — 17% of the estimated 392,078 babies born in the world that day.
India and seven other countries accounted for at least half of total global births. The other countries are: China (46,299), Nigeria (26,039), Pakistan (6,787), Indonesia (13,020), the United States (10,452), Democratic Republic of Congo (10,247) and Ethiopia (8,493).
The United Nations (UN) World Population report released in June 2019 says India is projected to overtake China as the world's most populous country this decade — by 2027.

Assam Govt. Gives Cash Rewards to Literary Outfits
The Assam government announced financial assistance of Rs. 75 crore to 22 sahitya sabhas (literary bodies) in the state. The government will provide Rs. 10 crore to the corpus fund of Asom Sahitya Sabha, Rs. 5 crore to Bodo Sahitya Sabha and Rs. 3 crore each to 20 other indigenous literary bodies as a one-time grant.
Private Doctors Can Now Teach at Government Medical Colleges
In a bid to curtail the shortage of teachers and faculty in medical colleges, the Union Health Ministry has planned to engage private and overseas doctors in teaching the students at government and private medical colleges.
However, this new regulation will not be applicable to the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry.
The notification in the matter was issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI). It says that the teachers who would be appointed will be on a part-time basis known as "visiting faculty."
The visiting faculty should have minimum work experience of eight years in his specialty department after achieving the post-graduate degree and the age limit shall not exceed 70 years.
