Coronavirus Vaccine Likely By September, Says Pune's Serum Institute
Serum Institute of India will be manufacturing Oxford University's coronavirus vaccine in anticipation of clinical trials succeeding by September-October, 2020 in the UK.
Vaccine major Serum Institute of India said it plans to start production of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University.
The Pune-based company has partnered with Oxford University as one of the seven global institutions manufacturing the vaccine.

IIT Kharagpur Ranked 57th in THE's 2nd Edition Of Impact Rankings 2020
According to Times Higher Education (THE)'s 2nd edition of Impact rankings 2020, which has ranked 766 universities from 85 countries, The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is ranked 57th with a score of 87.9 among global universities.
The list is topped by the University of Auckland, New Zealand with a score of 98.5, followed by University of Sydney (98.1), Western Sydney University(97.9) in Australia.

NASA Develops New Ventilator Tailored Specifically To Treat COVID-19 Patients
NASA engineers have developed a new, easy-to-build high-pressure ventilator tailored specifically to treat COVID-19 patients. The US space agency said that the device, called VITAL (Ventilator Intervention Technology Accessible Locally), passed a critical test at the Icahn School of Medicine in New York, an epicentre of COVID-19 in the US.
NASA added that VITAL is designed to treat patients with milder symptoms, thereby keeping country's limited supply of traditional ventilators available for patients with more severe COVID-19 symptoms.

The Technology Development Board (TDB) has approved financial support to MyLab Discovery Solutions, Pune, for ramping up production of COVID-19 diagnostic kits. Mylab Discovery Solutions is the first indigenous company to develop real-time PCR based molecular diagnostic kit which screens and detects COVID 19 from samples.
The support from TDB will ensure ramp up in the production of the kits through automation of the facility. This aid is supposed to increase the capacity to one lakh tests per day from the current numbers of thirty thousand.
