Narendra Modi Awarded 'The King Hamad Order Of The Renaissance' In Bahrain
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the King Hamad Order of the Renaissance by Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa in recognition of his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
Modi, the first Indian prime minister to visit Bahrain, received the honour when he called on the King of Bahrain.
The Indian PM arrived in the capital city of Manama after concluding his UAE visit where he was conferred with highest civilian award.

UAE Honours PM Narendra Modi With Highest Civilian Award
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with the 'Order of Zayed', the UAE's highest civilian award, as a mark of appreciation for his efforts to boost bilateral ties between the two nations.
The award has earlier been bestowed on several world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Queen Elizabeth II and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The award in the name of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, acquires special significance as it was awarded to Prime Minister Modi in the year of the birth centenary of Sheikh Zayed.
UAE confers Order of Zayed', the highest civilian award on Prime Minister with an annual bilateral trade of about USD 60 billion, the UAE is India's third-largest trade partner. It is also the fourth-largest exporter of crude oil for India.

Dr Jitendra Singh Presents Smart Policing Awards At The Homeland Security 2019 Conference
The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Departments of Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that policing has evolved over the years to adapt to the changing circumstances in view of the challenges arising out of the technological advances and other developments. He was speaking while presenting the Smart Policing Awards, at the Homeland Security 2019 Conference.
During the event, 35 Smart Policing awards were given to the officers for working in the areas of anti-insurgency, child safety, community policing, crime investigation & prosecution, cyber crime management, emergency response, human trafficking, road safety & traffic management, smart police station, surveillance & monitoring, training & capacity building, women safety and other police initiatives.
The Minister also released a compendium on 'Best Practices in Policing' on the occasion.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many initiatives have been taken for the benefit of security forces.
The Minister further said that the Central Government is committed to make policing more effective specially with regard to laws related to women and drug trafficking.
WCD Minister Smriti Zubin Irani Confers POSHAN Abhiyaan Awards
Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani gave away the Poshan Abhiyaan Awards for the year 2018-19 in different categories at a function in New Delhi.
The awards were given to the States, Districts, Blocks and Anganwadi Workers for their contributions in scaling up the Abhiyaan and ensuring that it reaches every household in the country. Poshan Abhiyaan is a multi - ministerial convergence mission with the vision to address malnutrition with a targeted approach by 2022 across the country.
As many as 363 awards worth 22 crore rupees were presented to the awardees. She expressed hope that with the help of all the stakeholders, the challenges of malnutrition will be addressed and the country will become malnutrition-free.
ANUBHAV Awards 2019
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh presented ANUBHAV awards, 2019 in New Delhi. This was fourth annual award in the series.
They are given by Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare. It seeks to encourage retiree to submit his valuable experience/ suggestions through Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare had created Anubhav portal on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 with vision to preserve rich experience of retired official in digital form.
It envisaged that their rich experience should be preserved for future generation to learn and explore knowledge on various aspects of governance, culture & development history of a particular region.
As part of this initiative, an award scheme was introduced in 2016 to incentivize and encourage more retiring employees to submit their write-ups.

JNU Professor Meeta Narain Awarded The Pushkin Medal 2019
Professor Meeta Narain of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been conferred with the Pushkin Medal 2019 for her contribution to Russian studies abroad.
Pushkin medal is the highest honour given by the Russian government to scholars, of Russian language and literature, including both citizens as well as foreign nationals.
Narain has contributed towards re-writing of Russian studies textbooks for graduate students after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Her works are now being used in departments of Russian language studies at various universities of India, in many former Soviet nation institutes, Europe, the US and other countries.
A 12-member Selection Panel Constituted For All National Sports Awards
Government of India has constituted a 12-member selection panel for national sports awards.
This panel will select the national sports awards for athletes and coaches. This selection panel including six-time world champion boxer M. C. Mary Kom and former football captain Bhaichung Bhutia among others.
National sports awards will be given away on National Sports Day, August 29, 2019, the birth anniversary of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand.
According to the Sports Ministry, it is a new idea of one selection committee for all the awards.

CCMB Scientist Thangaraj Bags JC Bose Fellowship
K Thangaraj, Chief Scientist at the city based Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) has bagged the prestigious JC Bose Fellowship "for his outstanding scientific contributions in the field of population and medical genomics."
The J C Bose fellowship is awarded to active scientists in recognition of their outstanding performance by the Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science & Technology.
