India and Australia Begin 5-day Naval Exercise

India and Australia began a five-day mega naval war game with an aim to strengthen joint capabilities in support of a stable and secure Indo-Pacific region.
The AUSINDEX exercise includes complex surface, sub-surface and air operations between ships, submarines, helicopters and long-range maritime patrol aircraft of the two navies.
The war game is taking place in the North Australian exercise area.
The exercise provides the two navies with an opportunity to strengthen joint defence capabilities in support of a stable and secure Indo-Pacific region.

India Navy Conducts Maritime Bilateral Exercise with Singapore

The 28th edition of the three-day Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) in the South China Sea concluded. SIMBEX is the Indian Navy's longest uninterrupted bilateral maritime exercise with any foreign navy.
Guided missile destroyer INS Ranvijay with a ship-borne helicopter, ASW Corvette INS Kiltan, guided missile corvette INS Kora and one P8I long range maritime patrol aircraft represented the Indian Navy in the bilateral exercise. For the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), one Formidable Class Frigate, RSS Steadfast embarked with an S-70B naval helicopter, one Victory Class Missile Corvette, RSS Vigour, one Archer Class Submarine, one Fokker-50 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, and four F-16 fighter aircraft of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) also participated in the exercise.

Egypt Hosts 'Bright Star' Multi-national Joint Military Drill with 21 Countries

Egypt is hosting the 'Bright Star' joint military drill with 21 countries after a one-year delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The drill, held on the Mohamed Naguib military base at the Mediterranean Sea, will end on September 17.
It is one of the largest and most important world military exercises due to the large number of participating troops.
Besides Egypt, troops from 21 countries, including the US, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, France, Britain, Greece and Italy, are taking part in the military exercises.
The Bright Star multinational military drill was launched in 1980 as part of the US-brokered peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.
It has been hosted by Egypt in cooperation with the US every two years.

Three Vendors Submit Final Offers for Multibillion-dollar Czech Armored-vehicle Race

The Czech Ministry of Defence has received three offers in its tender to acquire 210 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) for the country's land forces.
The confirmed bidders include the UK's BAE Systems with the Swedish-made CV90, Europe-based General Dynamics European Land Systems with its Ascod, and Germany's Rheinmetall with the Lynx.
In what could become the largest defense contract in the Czech Republic's history, Prague aims to spend about CZK 52 billion (US$2.4 billion) on new IFVs which will replace the military's outdated BVP-2 vehicles.

India's 1st N-missile Tracking Ship Dhruv to be Launched

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is expected to commission India's first satellite and ballistic missile tracking ship Dhruv from Visakhapatnam this month. Built by Hindustan Shipyard in collaboration with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), INS Dhruv has the capability to also map ocean beds for research and detection of enemy submarines.
The nuclear missile tracking ship will be manned by Indian Navy personnel with the Strategic Forces Command (SFC). Such ships are operated by France, the US, the UK, Russia, and China only.

Indian Navy Seals Contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the Supply of NADS

The Indian Navy sealed a contract with defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the supply of the first indigenously developed Naval Anti Drone System (NADS).
The NADS, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured by BEL, is the first indigenously developed anti-drone system to be inducted into the Indian armed forces.
The NADS can instantly detect micro drones and uses a laser-based kill mechanism to terminate the targets.
The NADS was first deployed to provide security cover for the Republic Day Parade this year and later during the Prime Minister's Independence Day address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. The system, which offers 360-degree coverage, was also deployed in Ahmedabad for the Modi-Trump roadshow.

Indian Army to Participate in Multi-nation Military Exercise in Russia

The Indian Army will participate in a two-week multi-nation military exercise at Nizhny in Russia that is aimed at boosting anti-terror cooperation.
Over a dozen countries will take part in the 'Zapad' exercise which will primarily focus on anti-terror operations. China and Pakistan are also expected to take part in the exercise as observers.
A contingent of 200 personnel of the Indian Army will participate in the exercise.
Zapad is one of the theatre level exercises of Russian armed forces.
