India's 1st Emergency Landing Facility on National Highway in Rajasthan

Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh and Union Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Emergency Landing Facility on a National Highway in Rajasthan.
This emergency landing facility has been constructed on the Satta-Gandhav stretch of National Highway (NH) 925A in Barmer, Rajasthan.
On the occasion, C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft of Indian Air Force (IAF) landed at the emergency field landing at the National Highway in Jalore, Rajasthan.
This is the first time; a National Highway will be used for emergency landing of IAF aircraft.
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) developed a three kilometres section of the Satta-Gandhav stretch on NH-925A, under the supervision of IAF.
This facility will be used for road traffic flow on every day basis. However, during the operations of IAF, it will be used to facilitate the landing of all types of aircraft of IAF.

IAF Inducts Barak 8 Air Defence System

The Indian Air Force inducted a medium range surface-to-air-missile (MRSAM) system capable of knocking out aerial threats such as enemy fighter jets, missiles, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles at a range of 70 km. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the capability as a "game changer" in air defence.
India and Israel have jointly developed MRSAM or the Barak 8 air defence system that includes advanced radar, command and control systems, and mobile launchers. The missile is powered by a locally-developed rocket motor and control system for high manoeuvrability in the terminal phase.
A naval version of the MRSAM is already deployed on a few Indian warships to boost their anti-air warfare capabilities. The army too has placed orders for the MRSAM but it has not yet inducted the system.

IAF to Procure 56 New C-295 Transport Aircraft from Spain

In a major decision, the Cabinet Committee on Security approved the procurement of 56 C-295 medium transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force to replace its ageing Avro planes which were first inducted around 60 years ago.
Sixteen aircraft will be delivered in a flyaway condition by the Airbus Defence and Space of Spain within 48 months of signing the contract while the remaining 40 planes will be manufactured in India.
The 40 planes will be manufactured in India by a consortium of the Airbus Defence and Space and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) within 10 years of signing the contract.

India to Produce Brahmos-NG Cruise Missile

As per reports, a new generation of the BrahMos cruise missile (BrahMos-NG) will be produced at a plant near Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh, India).
BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile produced by BrahMos Aerospace Russian-Indian joint venture. It was designed by the Russian NPO Mashinostroeniya (a subsidiary of the Tactical Missiles Corporation, KTRV) and DRDO. The first test launch took place in 2001. The Indian Air Force, Navy and Ground Forces are armed with BrahMos.
BrahMos-NG (Next Generation) is a mini version based on the existing BrahMos, will have same 290 km range and Mach 3.5 speed but it will weigh around 1.5 tonnes, 5 metres in length and 50 cm in diameter, making BrahMos-NG 50 per cent lighter and three metres shorter than its predecessor.

Israel Receives Fourth and Final Sa'ar 6 Warship from Germany

Israel has received its fourth and final Sa'ar 6 warship as the country implements a new naval doctrine aimed at bolstering defensive capabilities in its exclusive economic zone.
Israel has been receiving the ships since November 2020. The arrival of the Nitzahon corvette in 2021 in the Port of Haifa follows its two-week journey from Germany, where it was built. It also came a day before Israel announced a naval exercise dubbed Noble Waters with the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.
The Israel Defense Forces characterised the Sa'ar 6 corvettes as central to its naval defensive wall as well as a key pillar in the maritime protection of both Israeli waters and energy assets at sea.

India and Kazakhstan Carry Out 5th Edition of Joint Military Drills KAZIND-21

India and Kazakhstan carried out the 5th edition of the annual bilateral joint exercise KAZIND-21 strengthening military diplomacy between the two countries.
Troops of India and Kazakhstan carried out the demonstration of a raid on a terrorist hideout during the joint military exercise KAZIND-21 at Training Node Aisha Bibi, Kazakhstan.
The Indian Army contingent was represented by a battalion of The Bihar Regiment consisting of a total of 90 personnel led by a Contingent Commander. The Kazakhstan Army was represented by a company group.
