Italy to Support Culture and Tourism

The Italian government will release €9 billion by the end of 2020 to support culture and tourism.
The government has made available monthly contributions of between 600 and 1000 euros for cultural operators and employees in tourism and the leisure industry. By doing so, it wanted to help them to cross the "desert".
"Investing in culture is important for Italy", stressed the Italian Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dario Franceschini. According to him, the end of the coronavirus pandemic will lead to a very strong new start in the fields of culture and tourism.

Kenya Takes Top Spot at Africa World Travel Awards

Kenya with its tantalising cocktail of epic savannah landscapes, immense herds of wildlife and palm-fringed beaches has been voted 'Africa's Leading Destination' by the World Travel Awards.
The news was unveiled during the inaugural Africa Winners Day, with World Travel Awards – the global initiative to recognise and reward excellence in travel and tourism – honouring the best from across the continent.
Kenya's thriving capital, Nairobi, was also named 'Africa's Leading Business Travel Destination', and Kenyatta International Convention Centre collecting 'Africa's Leading Meetings & Conference Centre').
Cape Town was declared 'Africa's Leading Festival & Event Destination' and its majestic Table Mountain picked 'Africa's Leading Tourist Attraction'.

Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurates Tourist Facilitation Centre at Guruvayur

The Union Minister of State (IC) for Tourism and Culture Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurated the "Tourist Facilitation Centre" at Guruvayur, Kerala. The centre was constructed under the PRASAD Scheme of Ministry of Tourism.
The centre was constructed at a cost of Rs. 11.57 crore. The centre was constructed under the "Development of Guruvayur" project of PRASAD scheme. Around Rs. 45.36 crore were allocated for the project under the scheme. Under the project, the components such as CCTV Network infrastructure, multi-level car parking and tourist amenities centre were constructed.

Indian Immigrants Set New Record

Canada's 2020 annual report to parliament on immigration has stated that the Indian immigrants were the top permanent residents in 2019 in the country.
In 2019, the Justin Trudeau-led government welcomed over 3,41,000 permanent residents, including 30,000 resettled refugees and over 4,02,000 study permits and 4,04,000 temporary work permits were also issued.
Of the 3,41,180 permanent residents, there were 85,593 Indians, which is 25 per cent of the total permanent residents in 2019. It included 41,163 Indian women and 44,430 men. India was followed by China at 30,246, the Philippines at 27,818, Nigeria at 12,602 and Pakistan at 10,793.
Canada continues to be a safe and welcoming destination for immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
Canada also developed its 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan considering the evolving situation of COVID-19 and its implications for permanent resident admissions. The plan aims at admitting 4,01,000 new permanent residents by 2021. They also projected 4,11,000 admissions by 2022 and 4,21,000 in 2023.

PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates New Tourism Attractions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated four new tourist attractions, Arogya Van, Ekta Mall, Children's Nutrition Park and Sardar Patel Zoological Park/ Jungle Safari, near the Statue of Unity at Kevadiya in Narmada district.
The Prime Minister, who was scheduled to launch 17 new projects, including a seaplane service, first inaugurated an Arogya Van (`health forest'), spread over 17 acres with a wide range of medicinal plants.
The PM next inaugurated a Children's Nutrition Park, dubbed as the world's first such technology-driven theme park developed over 35,000 square meters. Its primary objective is to make children understand the importance of nutritious food.
Then he inaugurated Jungle Safari, a state-of-the-art Zoological Park spread across 375 acres and seven levels, housing over 1,100 indigenous and exotic birds and animals of more than 100 species, including tigers, lions, giraffes, zebras and leopards.
