Jamaica Seeks Five Million Guests Annually by 2025

Jamaica Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, has outlined plans to regain the exceptional growth seen in the sector before the Covid-19 pandemic.
The news came during a meeting with the Jamaica Tourist Board international sales and marketing teams.
The minister outlined a renewed five-year plan to achieve five million visitors, US$5 billion in earnings and employment of 200,000 Jamaicans in the tourism sector.
Jamaica welcomed nearly four million guests in 2019, but the figure could fall as low as one million this year.

Ice Cave that Forms Naturally Open to Tourists

An ice cave that forms naturally on a high-altitude glacier in the Swiss Alps is open to visitors and tourists are delighted about the view of the huge blue vault of the ice cathedral.
The size and the shape of the ice cave differs from year to year. It has a rounded ceiling made of thick ice about 5 metres high, and is about 20 metres long. The interiors of the cave are quite flat this year, and it is pretty much easy to access it.
Also known as the Mill, the ice cave forms through a siphon effect. The cavity fills with water from the snow melt, forming a lake, every spring and summer. In autumn, the plug disappears and the water drains, leaving the cave.

Fortune Hotels Inks Operating Agreements

Fortune Hotels have signed four individual operating agreement for hotels in Candolim (Goa), Deogarh (Uttarakhand), Haldwani (Uttarakhand) and Tirpur (Tamil Nadu).

UAE Looks to Domestic Tourism, Desert Winter to Boost Revenue

The United Arab Emirates started a campaign to encourage local tourism and promote its desert winters, as it looks to recover from the impact of the pandemic.
The UAE, which is reliant on energy and tourism, was hit this year due to the coronavirus and low oil prices, underscoring the need to find new sources of funds.
The UAE has launched a unified tourism identity across its seven emirates, and a government strategy to promote domestic tourism.

Space Tourism: Virgin Space Plane Set for First Crewed Flight

Virgin Galactic is set to carry out a milestone test flight of its rocket-powered tourist plane on Saturday.
This will be the first crewed flight of its reusable Unity vehicle to take off from the purpose-built commercial spaceport in New Mexico, US.
Sir Richard Branson's company will begin space tourism flights in 2021.
Already, more than 600 paying customers - including Justin Bieber and Leonardo DiCaprio - are booked to take a ride on the plane.

Rajasthan Tourism, UNESCO Adopt 'Art of Life' to Develop Cultural Tourism Hubs

With an aim to tap the potential of Rajasthan's cultural heritage, the state Tourism department has tied up with UNESCO and implemented a project. Around 10 cultural tourism hubs are being developed in Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Barmer districts. The tourism hubs are being developed by adopting the 'Art of Life' methodology. The project is adding prosperity to the life of 884 performing artists and 594 handicraft artists and safeguarding the traditional art forms.
The UNESCO and Rajasthan Tourism collaboration envisions to promote these arts on a global platform and connect the artists with admirers of their work.
