National Awards to Teachers-2020

The Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy released the list of 47 teachers selected for the National Awards to Teachers, 2020.
The Independent Jury at National Level reviewed the list of 153 teachers as shortlisted by all the 36 State & UT Selection Committees and 7 Organisation Selection Committees through Video Conferencing.

SBI to Receive Human Capital Management Excellence Award 2020

State Bank of India (SBI) to receive Brandon Human Capital Management (HCM) Excellence Award (also known as the Academy Awards of Learning & Development) 2020, a global recognition for its HR initiative, "Nayi Disha". The award winners will be honored at Brandon Hall Group's annual HCM Excellence Conference, January 26-28, 2021 at the Hilton West Palm Beach, Florida.
The selected winners will also present in breakout sessions, sharing their leading practices during the conference.
SBI partnered with M/s Chrysalis & developed the "Nayi Disha" Programme.
SBI has won the award in The HCM Spring Program under 'Excellence in Learning and Development' in 3 categories namely, Best Learning Program supporting a Change Transformation Business Strategy (Gold), Best Use of Blended Learning and Best Unique or Innovative Learning (Gold) and Development Program for its HR initiative (Silver).

WWII Spy Noor Inayat Khan First Indian-origin Woman to Get British Honour Blue Plaque

Noor Inayat Khan, Britain's World War II spy, became the first Indian-origin woman to be honoured with a memorial Blue Plaque at her former family home in London.
The Blue Plaque scheme, run by the English Heritage charity, honours notable people and organisations connected with particular buildings across London.
Khan's plaque has been put up at 4 Taviton Street in Bloomsbury, where she lived before leaving for Nazi-occupied France in 1943 as an undercover radio operator for Britain's Special Operations Executive (SOE).
She was the daughter of Indian Sufi saint Hazrat Inayat Khan and a descendant of the 18th century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan.

BBMB Bags Environment Award

The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) was conferred with the Silver Award in the 7th Exceed Environment Award - 2020" under Environment Preservation category in the power sector.
The award was presented to BBMB by the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar, in a virtual webinar organised by the Sustainable Development Foundation.
BBMB annually generates 10,000 to 14,000 million units of green and pollution-free hydropower for its partner states. As part of its commitment towards preserving the environment at all its project stations, BBMB is planting trees every year in catchment area of its projects to prevent soil erosion and also to reduce carbon dioxide in the environment. Last year, BBMB planted seven lakh saplings with survival rate of 80 per cent.

Marieke Lucas Rijneveld Youngest Author to Win International Booker Prize

Dutch Author Marieke Lucas Rijneveld won the 2020 International Booker Prize for the literary fiction book 'The Discomfort of Evening'. Rijneveld became the youngest author to win the prize at the age of 29.
The Booker Prize Foundation is a registered charity, it is responsible for the award of The Booker Prize for Fiction and for The International Booker Prize.
The Book was first published in Dutch in 2018 and eventually translated into English by Michele Hutchison.
Under the rules of the prize, the award of 50,000-pounds will be split equally between the author and translator Michele Hutchison, giving equal recognition to both.
