Chef Vikas Khanna Honoured with Asia Game Changer Award
Michelin-star chef Vikas Khanna will be honoured with the prestigious 2020 Asia Game Changer Award for feeding millions across India amid the COVID-19 pandemic through a massive food distribution drive that he coordinated from thousands of miles away in his Manhattan home.
The Asia Game Changer Awards, launched by the Asia Society -- a US-based non-profit organisation -- in 2014, identify and honour true leaders who make a positive contribution to the future of Asia.

Indian-origin Writer Avni Doshi's Novel Shortlisted for 2020 Booker Prize for Fiction
Burnt Sugar, Indian-origin writer Avni Doshi's debut novel about love between mother and daughter, is among six books shortlisted for the 2020 Booker Prize for Fiction. The winner will be announced on November 17, 2020.
The shortlisted authors each receive £2,500 and a specially bound edition of their book.
The winner will receive a further £50,000. The shortlist was selected from 162 submitted books published in the UK or Ireland between October 1, 2019 and September 30, 2020.
Aditya Puri conferred Lifetime Achievement Award by Euromoney Awards of Excellence 2020
In a first-of-its kind recognition for an Indian corporate leader, Aditya Puri, MD, HDFC Bank was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award by Euromoney Awards of Excellence 2020.
The publication has recognised the iconic leader for his skills in building a world-class Indian bank at a time where there were no similar institutions in existence.
The coveted honour from the global financial magazine in recognition of his illustrious career in banking comes just ahead of his retirement.

Tirupati Railway Station Bags Environmental Certification
The Environmental Management System of Tirupati Railway Station bagged the ISO 14001:2015 certification for, among others, optimising the power consumption and its services to enhance the greenery.
The station got the recognition in provision of services such as enquiry, tickets, accommodation, amenities (snacks, meals and tea), transportation of passengers, maintenance of cleanliness on the premises and provision of connectivity to detraining passengers to the nearest temples including Tirumala.
The certificate presented by SCR's Senior Divisional Engineer (Guntakal) was received by Station Director S. Nagaramana Sarma, Station Manager Chinnapa Reddy.
The authorities claimed that consumption of water and electricity came down drastically with the installation of LED bulbs, solar energy production and water recycling. Tree plantation drive on the premises also helped maintain greenery, while acceptance of soft copy of railway tickets on mobile phone added to the green drive.

US Film Nomadland Triumphs at Venice Film Festival
US film Nomadland has won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival, the first such event held with live audiences since the Covid-19 outbreak.
The film, by Chinese-born Chloé Zhao, stars Frances McDormand as a widow living as a nomad after the 2008 financial crisis.
Mexican director Michel Franco's thriller New Order and historic drama Wife of a Spy by Japan's Kiyoshi Kurosawa were also recognised.
About half of the seats at the venues on the Lido waterfront were left empty, and few celebrities made the trip to the world's oldest film festival.
Australian actress Cate Blanchett headed the jury at the 77th edition of the festival.
Zhao is the first woman to win the festival's top award, the Golden Lion, in 10 years.
The festival's Grand Jury prize went to Franco's film, while Kurosawa was named the best director. They were jointly given the Silver Lions.
Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky was given the Special Jury prize for Dear Comrades!, a film about the massacre of protesters in the USSR in 1962.
Britain's Vanessa Kirby won the best actress award, while the best actor prize went to Italy's Pierfrancesco Favino.
Award for Best NSS Programme Coordinator
P.V. Valsarajan, programme coordinator, National Service Scheme (NSS), University of Calicut, has been chosen for the national award for the best university and NSS programme coordinator, instituted by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. This was declared by the State NSS officer and regional director, NSS, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Prakash Javadekar Congratulates Chaitanya Tamhane for winning 'International Critics Award'
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has congratulated Chaitanya Tamhane for winning the 'International Critics Award' at the Venice Film Festival.
Mr Javadekar said Tamhane won the award for the film 'The Disciple' that portrays three decades of an Indian classical music practitioners' journey rooted in Guru-Shishya parampara.
