1986 Batch IPS Officer Abhay Named New DGP Of Odisha

Odisha Government appointed 1986 batch IPS officer Abhay as the new Director General of Police (DGP) and head of police force.
Abhay, on Central deputation, is serving as the Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
The decision came after Union Public Service Commission recommended a panel of three names, which included In-charge DGP Bijay Kumar Sharma and 1986 batch officer Pradip Kapur apart from Abhay. Sharma, DG Fire Services, has now been transferred and posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Home Department.

Satya Nadella Tops Fortune's Businessperson of the Year list

Microsoft's India-born Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella has occupied the top spot in Fortune's Businessperson of the Year 2019 list, an annual compilation that also includes Mastercard CEO Ajay Banga and Arista head Jayshree Ullal.
Fortune's annual Businessperson of the Year list features 20 business leaders "who tackled audacious goals, overcame impossible odds, found creative solutions".
The list is topped by Nadella, who has been at the helm of the technology giant since 2014.
Banga is ranked 8th, while Ullal comes in at the 18th spot in the list for which Fortune looked at 10 financial factors ranging from total return to shareholders to return on capital. Both Banga and Ullal are of Indian-origin.

'84 batch IAS officer R Rajagopal is Tamil Nadu's new CIC

R Rajagopal, who has been serving as Secretary to Governor for nearly two years, was appointed as the new State Chief Information Commissioner.
He will hold the office for three years. As the head of the State Information Commission, he will play an important role in the implementation of the Right to Information Act in the State.
The appointment was made based on the recommendation of the selection committee chaired by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
Opposition leader MK Stalin, who is also a member of the selection committee, boycotted the meeting.
He alleged that the process lacks transparency and he was not provided with the details of the candidates under consideration.

Justice R Banumathi To Become Part Of SC Collegium

The Supreme Court collegium, which comprises five senior-most judges, will now have Justice R Banumathi as a new member after Justice Ranjan Gogoi demitted office as the CJI.
Justice Banumathi will be the second-ever woman to be part of the collegium after Justice Ruma Pal in the last 13 years.
Justice Pal was the last woman judge who was a member of the collegium before demitting office in 2006.
The apex court collegium comprises the five senior-most judges as its members to select and recommend names for the appointment of judges in the Supreme Court.
The collegium which recommends names of persons for appointment of judges in the high courts comprises three senior most apex court judges as its members.

Justice SA Bobde Sworn In As 47th Chief Justice Of India, Succeeds Ranjan Gogoi

Supreme Court Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde was sworn in as the 47th Chief Justice of India by President Ram Nath Kovind. He was the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court
Chief Justice SA Bobde, 63, succeeds Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi; he will serve as the leader of the judiciary till April 23, 2021. Justices NV Ramana, UU Lalit and DY Chandrachud are next in line.
Chief Justice Bobde was on the benches that decided the Ayodhya land dispute case in 2019, held privacy to be a fundamental right in 2017, and clarified in 2015 that no Indian citizen without an Aadhaar card could be denied government services.

Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan Took Oath As Chief Justice of Jharkhand HC

Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan took oath as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. He was administered the oath of office by Governor Draupadi Murmi in a simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan. Chief Minister Raghuwar Das, judges of the Jharkhand High Court and other dignitaries were present at the function.
Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan has been appointed as the 13th Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. The post was lying vacant since May 2019, after the former Chief Justice, Anirudh Bose was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court.
Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan was a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Goa DGP Pranab Nanda dies of cardiac arrest in Delhi aged 57

Goa's Director General of Police Pranab Nanda has died due to cardiac arrest.
Nanda was on a visit to Delhi after attending official functions in Goa. He was 57.
The 1988-batch IPS officer was transferred to Goa on February 25, 2019.

Rajat Sharma resigns from the post of DDCA President

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has run into a crisis in the middle of the cricket season. Its president Rajat Sharma resigned, which was followed by resignations of cricket advisory committee (CAC) members, Yashpal Sharma and Sunil Valson, its CEO Ravikant Chopra, CFO PC Vaish and GM (cricket ops) Manvi Dhodhi.
Sharma decided to quit after struggling to gain support of members of DDCA's apex council in his endeavour to 'clean up' Delhi cricket.
Rajat Sharma (born 18 February 1957) is the Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, India TV. He is the anchor and inventor of the very famous TV show "Aap Ki Adalat". He is popularly known for his pro-BJP inclination of his channel.
