General Atomics Partners with Bharat Forge to Manufacture Aerostructures in India

San Diego-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI), a subsidiary of General Atomics, announced its partnership with Bharat Forge Ltd. The move is expected to result in significant capability-building for both companies and provide an impetus to the Indian large, unmanned aircraft industry.
It will also help India develop a manufacturing ecosystem for high-end drones. The move will provide India with an opportunity to manufacture main landing gear components, subassemblies, and assemblies of remotely piloted aircraft in the country.

Captain Shiva Chouhan First Woman Officer to be Deployed at Siachen Glacier

Captain Shiva Chouhan became the first woman officer of the Indian Army to get operationally deployed at Siachen Glacier, the world's highest battlefield.
Hailing from Rajasthan, Captain Chouhan is an Engineer Officer from the Bengal Sappers. She is posted at the "Kumar Post" at an altitude of 15,632 feet where night temperatures are close to -25°C. The Kumar Post on Siachen Glacier is named after Col Narendra (Bull) Kumar, the noted Army mountaineer who led the first expedition to Siachen before India launched Operation Meghdoot in April 1984 to capture the glacier.

IIT-M and DRDO Collaborate to Develop Defence Technology

Strengthening India's Atmanirbhar resolve, premiere tech institute IIT Madras took over a research centre and converted it into a Centre of Excellence (CoE). Operated jointly by IIT-Madras and Defence Research and Development Organization, the CoE, called 'DRDO Industry Academia- Ramanujan Centre of Excellence' (DIA-RCoE) is catering to the defence and security needs of the country.
The DIA-RCoE has been established to carry out targeted research in cutting-edge technologies for defence and security and to establish a premier research facility for the development of cutting-edge technologies. Both DRDO and IIT Madras are working together on Advanced Defence Technologies including Combat Vehicle Technologies.

Air Marshal Pankaj M. Sinha Takes over as Chief of IAF's Western Command

Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha took charge as the commander-in-chief of Indian Air Force's Western Air Command that looks after the security of the air space in the sensitive Ladakh sector as well as some other parts of north India.
He succeeded Air Marshal S. Prabhakaran who retired from service after serving the force for more than 39 years.
Air Marshal Sinha is a graduate of National Defence Academy, Pune, and was commissioned into the IAF as a fighter pilot in June 1985.
He is an alumnus of the prestigious Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

CRPF DG Sujoy Lal Thaosen Takes Additional Charge as BSF DG

CRPF Director-General Sujoy Lal Thaosen took the additional charge of the Border Security Force (BSF), following the retirement of incumbent Pankaj Kumar Singh.
Singh, a 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Rajasthan cadre, handed over the baton of the country's largest border-guarding force to his batch mate from the Madhya Pradesh cadre at the BSF headquarters in central Delhi.
Thaosen had served different forces in various capacities, including the Special Protection Group (SPG) that is entrusted with the task of providing proximate security to the Prime Minister of India and former Prime Ministers.
Sujoy Lal Thaosen had served twice in the SPG and was taking care of the security of PM Manmohan Singh and former Prime Ministers of India.

Army Inaugurates First 3D-printed Dwelling Unit for Soldiers in Ahmedabad

The Indian Army inaugurated its first 3D-printed house dwelling unit (with ground-plus one configuration) for soldiers at Ahmedabad Cantonment.
The dwelling unit has been constructed by the Military Engineering Services (MES) in collaboration with MiCoB Pvt Ltd incorporating the latest 3D rapid construction technology.
Construction work of the dwelling unit measuring 71 sqm with garage space was completed in just 12 weeks by utilising the 3D-printed foundation, walls and slabs.

IAF Successfully Test-fires Extended Range Version of BrahMos Air Launched Missile

The Indian Air Force successfully test-fired the extended range version of BrahMos air launched missile against a ship target from a SU-30MKI aircraft.
The missile achieved the desired mission objectives in the Bay of Bengal region.
With this, IAF achieved a significant capability boost to carry out precision strikes from SU-30MKI aircraft against land or sea targets over very long ranges.
