Michelle Obama to be Inducted into US National Women's Hall of Fame

Former US first lady Michelle Obama will be inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame along with eight other women including former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, soccer icon Mia Hamm and NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, who died last year.
The National Women's Hall of Fame named the members of its Class of 2021 set to be inducted on October 2.
Others in the list include author Octavia Butler, who died in 2006, Rebecca Halstead, who had a near three-decade career in the military, poet Joy Harjo, artist Judy Chicago and activist Emily Howland, who died in 1929 and had taught formerly enslaved people how to read and write in refugee settlements where she worked during the American Civil War.

Amitabh Bachchan to be Honoured with 2021 FIAF Award

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be conferred upon with the prestigious 2021 FIAF Award by the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF), the worldwide organisation of film archives and museums from across the world, at a virtual showcase scheduled to take place on March 19.
The 78-year-old Bollywood icon's name was nominated by the FIAF affiliate Film Heritage Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation founded by filmmaker and archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, dedicated to the preservation, restoration, documentation, exhibition, and study of India's film heritage.
Filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan, who have been previous recipients, will give the award to Amitabh Bachchan.

Niger's Issoufou Wins African Leadership Prize

Niger's President Mahamadou Issoufou has been announced the 2020 winner of the $5m (£3.6m) Ibrahim Prize for African leadership.
Mr. Issoufou has served two five-year terms as president from 2011 to 2020. He is set to be succeeded by former Interior Minister, Mohamed Bazoum, who won the presidential election last month.
The prize committee praised the Nigerien president's leadership after inheriting one of the world's poorest economies.
Mr. Issoufou is the sixth recipient of the Ibrahim Prize.
Previous winners of the prize include Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia (2017), President Hifikepunye Pohamba of Namibia (2014), President Pedro Pires of Cabo Verde (2011), President Festus Mogae of Botswana (2008) and President Joaquim Chissano of Mozambique (2007).

Koneru Humpy Wins the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year Award for 2020

Koneru Humpy, the reigning world chess champion in the rapid format, won the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year Award 2020. Once the youngest ever chess Grandmaster at the age of 15, Humpy bagged the award after receiving the highest number of votes from the fans.
A 40-member jury had nominated Humpy, wrestler Vinesh Phogat, sprinter Dutee Chand, shooter Manu Bhaker and hockey skipper Rani Rampal for this year's honour, last month.
BBC Director General, Tim Davie hosted the virtual awards ceremony and announced the winner. This year's Lifetime Achievement award went to the veteran athlete, Anju Bobby George, the only Indian athlete to have won a world championship medal in long jump in 2003.

Mohankrishna Bohara Wins Bihari Puraskar

Mohankrishna Bohara will be awarded the 30th Bihari Puraskar Award for his critical work 'Taslima: Sangharsh aur Sahitya.
The Bihari Puraskar is one of the three literary awards instituted by the KK Birla Foundation in 1991. Named after the famous poet Bihari, the award carries a cash prize of Rs. 2.5 lakh, a plaque and a citation.
The award is given every year for an outstanding work published in the last 10 years by a Rajasthani author in Hindi or Rajasthani. The recipient is chosen by a selection committee, whose present chairman is Om Thanvi. After considering the works published during 2010-2019, 'Taslima: Sangharsh aur Sahitya' by Bohra was selected for the Bihari Puraskar, 2020.

WAN-IFRA Names the Hindu Group Champion Publisher of the Year 2020

The Hindu Group won two golds and two silvers at WAN IFRA's South Asian Digital Media Awards, culminating in being named 'Champion Publisher of the Year', owing to the highest tally on the points table.
The awards are presented in recognition of outstanding work done by news publishers, in digital media. The winners were honoured virtually at the Digital Media India 2021 Conference.
The World Association of News Publishers or WAN-IFRA, is a global organisation of the world's press, with a network of 3,000 news publishing companies and technology entrepreneurs, and 60 member publisher associations representing 18,000 publications in 120 countries. South Asian Digital Media Awards are presented in 10 different categories. Twenty judges from across the globe evaluated the entries and chose the winners.

International Women of Courage Award

- Women from Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and China have been selected for a prestigious award for demonstrating exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for justice, gender equality and women's empowerment.
- The annual International Woman of Courage (IWOC) award recognises women from around the globe. It will be presented in a virtual ceremony next week.
- First Lady Dr Jill Biden would deliver a special message with the award being presented by the Secretary of State Tony Blinken.

Mumbai's CSMT Becomes First Railway Station to Get IGBC Gold Certification

Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) has become the first railway station in Maharashtra to be awarded the gold certification as per the Confederation of Indian Industry's Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) ratings.
With this, CSMT has become the first railway station across Maharashtra and the western division to receive Green Railway Station Certication.
The Environment Directorate of Indian Railways with the support of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has developed the Green Railway Stations rating system.
Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted,"Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Maharashtra is awarded Gold Certification by Indian Green Building Council."
