Indian Navy to Commission 'Androth': Second Anti-Submarine Warfare

  • In a significant stride towards maritime self-reliance, the Indian Navy is set to commission INS Androth, the second Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), on October 6, 2025, at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam. The ceremony will be presided over by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
  • This event not only marks the formal induction of the second vessel in the 16-ship ASW-SWC series but also reflects India's growing capabilities in indigenous warship design and construction.

  • India successfully launched, in September 2025, of the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile from a rail-based Mobile launcher system.
  • This next-generation missile is designed to cover a range of up to 2000 kilometres and is equipped with various advanced features.
  • The first-of-its-kind launch carried out from a specially designed rail-based Mobile Launcher, which can move on the Rail network without any preconditions that allowing the user to have cross-country mobility and launch within a short reaction time with reduced visibility.

CDS General Anil Chauhan Inaugurates First Tri-Services Academia Technology Symposium in New Delhi

  • Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan inaugurated the first Tri Services Academia Technology Symposium in New Delhi.
  • The symposium is themed Victory through Wisdom and Researchaims to bridge the gap between academic innovation and military needs.
  • Addressing the symposium, the CDS highlighted the changing nature of modern warfare, driven by convergence across kinetic and non-kinetic domains, necessitating advanced integrated technological solutions.
  • He emphasised the critical role of academia, startups and industry in developing doctrines and indigenous capabilities across platforms, weapons, and networks to meet future operational demands.
  • He called for a whole-of-nation approach, urging academia to scale innovation and commit to making India a global leader in next-generation defence technologies.
  • The CDS also inaugurated a Technology Exhibition showcasing 43 selected innovative exhibits by academia.
  • During the event, Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with prominent universities and research bodies to formalise partnerships aimed at developing cutting-edge, indigenous defence technologies.

2nd Meeting of India-France Special Task Force on Civil Nuclear Energy Held in New Delhi

  • The Second Meeting of the India-France Special Task Force on Civil Nuclear Energy held in New Delhi.
  • It was co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Secretary-General of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Anne-Marie Descôtes.
  • The Ministry of External Affairs said that during the meeting, both sides undertook a comprehensive review of the progress made over the past year through various meetings and consultations.

Establishment of 10th Assam Police Battalion Approved by Cabinet

  • The State cabinet approved the establishment of the 10th Assam Police battalion at Sonapure near Guwahati at a cost of Rs. 260 crore.
  • The meeting, held in September 2025, also approved a 20% bonus to workers of tea gardens under the Assam Tea Corporation on the occasion of Durga Puja.
  • Besides, the cabinet cleared the setting up of question papers of the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination (CCE) to be conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) in both English and Assamese languages, to remove the language barrier for candidates, especially from rural and vernacular backgrounds.

Rajnath Singh Inaugurates India's First Overseas Defence Factory in Morocco

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Morocco in September 2025, where he held bilateral talks and inaugurated India's first overseas Defence manufacturing facility in Casablanca. 
  • Rajnath Singh led a delegation to launch the Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) plant, established in partnership with Morocco's Royal Armed Forces.
  • The facility will initially assemble Wheeled Armoured Platform 8x8 vehicles for Moroccan forces, with plans to expand production for the larger African market.

Fast Patrol Vessel ICGS Adamya Commissioned into ICG at Paradip Port

  • Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) 'Adamya', the first ship of the eight in series Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) commissioned at Paradip Port, Odisha in September 2025.
  • The 51 meters FPV designed and built indigenously by Goa Shipyard Limited and is a befitting example of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' with over 60% indigenous content leading to strengthening of India's Maritime might.
  • ICGS Adamya was commissioned by Joint Secretary (AF & Policy), Ministry of Defence Satyajit Mohanty, in the presence of Chief of Staff, Headquarters Eastern Seaboard Inspector General Yoginder Dhaka and other senior dignitaries of the central & state government.
  • The ship will be based at Paradip, Odisha, under operational and administrative control of Commander, ICG Region (North East) through Commander, ICG District Headquarters No. 7 (Odisha).
  • 'Adamya' meaning 'indomitable' is a projection of ICG's will and commitment in ensuring safe, secure, and clean seas towards the maritime interest of the Nation.
  • CGS Adamya with five officers and 34 personnel will be deployed for surveillance of maritime zones and undertaking other duties as enshrined in the ICG charter to safeguard the maritime interests of India.

Coratia Technologies Secures Navy Contract for Indigenous UWROVS

  • Rourkela-based defence start-up Coratia Technologies won a Rs. 66 Crores contract from the Indian Navy for the supply of indigenous Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (UWROVs).
  • The order highlighted the growing reliance on domestic unmanned solutions for naval operations under the umbrella of "Atmanirbhar Bharat."
  • The UWROVs being supplied are advanced underwater drones capable of performing surveillance, mine detection, inspection, and salvage operations.
  • These platforms allow naval divers to be substituted in hazardous environments, making them critical for both tactical and peacetime naval deployments.
