SI Priyanka Becomes First Female Officer to be Part of Encounter
Sub-Inspector Priyanka became the first woman personnel of Delhi Police to be a part of an encounter in central Delhi which led to the arrest of an alleged gangster and his associate.
The encounter took place at Pragati Maidan here and led to the arrest of Rohit Chaudhary (35), carrying a reward of Rs. 3.5 lakh and his accomplice Parveen alias Titu, carrying a reward of Rs. 2 lakh.
The police claimed that SI Priyanka was the first woman personnel of the force to be a part of an encounter.
Priyanka joined the Delhi Police in 2008 and has been working in the Crime Branch for the past two years. Before joining the unit, she was posted in the district unit.
Lt Gen Ananthanarayanan is 16th Rising Star Corps Commander
Lieutenant general PN Ananthanarayanan took over as the 16th Rising Star Corps commander.
General PN Ananthanarayanan is an alumni of the Rashtriya Indian Military College, National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy. He was commissioned into the 3rd Battalion of the 8th Gorkha Rifles in December 1984.
In a career spanning over 36 years, the officer has held multiple staff, instructional and command appointments. He has commanded his battalion, an infantry brigade and an infantry division on the line of actual control. His staff experience includes brigade major of armoured brigade, deputy assistant military secretary at HQ Northern Command, colonel (quartermaster) at Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and major general administration at headquarters, South Western Command. He has also been an instructor and assistant adjutant at National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and senior instructor at Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

India and S. Korea May Discuss Leasing of Minesweeper Vessels
During his visit, the South Korean Defence Minister will discuss with Rajnath Singh defence cooperation between the two nations along with other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
India may discuss the leasing of minesweeper vessels from South Korea, a longstanding demand of the Indian Navy, during talks between Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his visiting South Korean counterpart Suh Wook.
Suh, a former South Korean Army general who became the Defence Minister last September, arrived in New Delhi.

Pakistan Test-fires Nuclear-capable Shaheen-1A
Pakistan successfully test-fired a nuclear-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile with a range of 900 kilometres.
The test of Shaheen-1A surface to surface ballistic missile was aimed at re-validating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system including advanced navigation system, the media wing of the Pakistani army.
The launch was witnessed by senior officials from Strategic Plans Division, strategic forces, scientists and engineers of strategic organisations.

India Conducts First-ever Joint Patrol in Madagascar EEZ
In a first, the navies of India and Madagascar undertook joint patrolling of Madagascar's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and also conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX).

China and Russia Propose New Regional Security Dialogue Platform
China and Russia have proposed setting up a new regional security dialogue platform to address security concerns of countries in the region, as their Foreign Ministers hit out at the United States for forming small circles to seek bloc confrontation.
The proposal came following a meeting between Foreign Minister Wang Yi of China and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in the southern Chinese city of Guilin, and days after the March 19 U.S.-China summit in Alaska and the March 12 leaders' summit of the Quad (India, Australia, Japan and the U.S.), grouping that both Beijing and Moscow have viewed warily.
Both sides said in a joint press release that "the two sides also proposed the establishment of a regional security dialogue platform to converge a new consensus on resolving the security concerns of countries in the region." China and Russia are already part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) security grouping, which includes India.

IAI Completes Test of New Defense Missile with 150 km Range
The Israel Aerospace Industries successfully completed live fire trials of a new long range defense missile.
The Barak extended range interceptor can take out airborne threats at a range of 150 kilometers (93 miles).
The missile, part of the firm's family of Barak interceptors, is launched vertically and includes a rocket motor, a booster, and a radar homing seeker. The range was extended by adjusting other interceptor missiles and radar capabilities.
The Barak system provides an integrated defense against an array of potential simultaneous aerial threats fired from different sources and ranges.
