Kyrgyzstan Calls off Indestructible Brotherhood-2022

Kyrgyzstan called off the CSTO's military drills called Indestructible Brotherhood-2022, which were set to be held in the Central Asian country from October 10 to 14.
Kyrgyzstan, a former Soviet Republic, called off the "Indestructible Brotherhood 2022" command and staff exercise a day before the multinational military exercise was scheduled to commence in its territory.
The exercise is joint military drill involving army personnel from Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) – a 6-member security alliance comprising of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
Non-member states like Syria, Serbia and Uzbekistan were also invited for this military exercise as observers.
The multilateral military drills were set to take place in the eastern highlands of Kyrgyzstan.

Indian Navy to Join Exercise Malabar in Japan Next Month

Japan will host the 2022 edition of the Malabar naval exercise consisting of India, Australia, Japan and the U.S. in the second week of November. Indian Navy will also participate in the International Fleet Review (IFR) being hosted in the first week of November to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF).
This is the latest in a series of bilateral and multilateral exercises in which the Indian armed forces have taken part recently. End of October, the India-U.S. bilateral Army exercise 'Yudh Abhyas' is scheduled to take place in the high altitude areas of Uttarakhand, around 100 km (aerial distance) from the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Tata Advanced System Bags IAF Contract to Supply Bullet-proof Jackets

In a move that signifies growing self-reliance, the Indian Air Force will get 10,000 bullet-proof jackets for their special forces and other personnel from Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL).
The lightweight bullet-resistant body armour is expected to replace bulky and heavy jackets that are slowly being phased out from the entire armed forces.
The supply of these bulletproof jackets for the first time to the Indian Air Force is as per the terms of the contract.

India, New Zealand Navies Sign Pact on White Shipping Information Exchange

Indian Navy signed an agreement with the Royal New Zealand Navy on White Shipping Information Exchange. The agreement was signed between R. Hari Kumar, Navy Chief Admiral, and Rear Admiral David Proctor, Chief of the New Zealand Navy.
The agreement was signed to promote greater transparency in the Maritime Domain. CNS Hari Kumar visited New Zealand from September 29 to October 1, 2022. Closer collaboration for enhancing shared Maritime Domain Awareness is in keeping with converge.
The White Shipping Information is the exchange of prior information regarding the movement and identity of commercial non-military merchant vessels.
Ships are classified into white, black, and grey signifying commercial, illegal, and military vessels respectively.
White Shipping Agreement is an information network protocol that permits the navies of two countries to share information about ships in their oceanic territories.

Sanjeev Kishore Takes Over as Director General Ordnance

1985-batch officer of the Indian Ordnance Factory Service (IOFS), Sanjeev Kishore, tookn over as the Director General Ordnance (C&S) upon the superannuation of M. K. Grag.
Before taking over the charge of DGO (C &S), Kishore was the Additional Director General Ordnance at the Directorate of Ordnance (Coordination & Services), Kolkata.
Kishore has held many senior positions, including that of the first CMD of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd (AVNL), one of the seven new DPSUs formed by the Government of India in 2021. He has ensured smooth transition of Armoured group of factories from Government department to a corporation. AVNL recorded profit in its first six months of operation under his leadership.

India and South Korea Hold Naval Exercise

The navies of India and South Korea participated in a maritime partnership exercise in the Bay of Bengal.
Indian warship INS Sumedha participated in the exercise with Republic of Korea navy ships Hansando and Dae Cheong.
The exercise included helicopter operations, communication drills and tactical manoeuvres. The interaction was aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation and inter-operability between the two navies.
