INS Sunayna in Seychelles Marks India's Maiden Participation in CMF

INS Sunayna reached Seychelles to take part in the annual training exercise 'Operation Southern Readiness' of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).
This not only reinforces Indian Navy's commitment to maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region but also marks the maiden participation of an Indian Navy ship in CMF exercise.
The ship is scheduled to participate as associate partner in the capacity building exercises being conducted by CMF.
The joint training exercise is being attended by representative delegations from the US, Italy, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and ship participation from the UK, Spain and India.

Amit Shah Inaugurates Building of five Border Observation Posts at SSB Camp in Kishanganj in Bihar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that the boundary of the country is fully secured. After inaugurating building of five Border Observation Posts (BOPs) at Fatehpur, Pektola, Beria, Aamgachi and Raniganj at SSB camp in Kishanganj, Shah said that the open border of Nepal is challenging for security personnel. The Union Home Minister asked Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) jawans to be vigilant along the border to check the infiltration, smuggling, and trafficking of humans and animals from Nepal and Bangladesh. Shah said, the SSB should adopt the latest technology including Drone and CCTV to ensure perfect security along bordering areas. The Minister said, SSB jawans are not only protecting bordering areas but also performing a commendable job to eliminate the Naxal menace in Bihar and Jharkhand.

Navy Buys 'Enhanced Range' BrahMos Missiles

Providing impetus to "Aatmanirbharta" (self-reliance) in defence production, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with the Indo-Russian joint venture (JV), BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL), for buying the latest version of the BrahMos missile for its newest warships.
So far, BrahMos missiles have had a range of 295 kilometres, to adhere to the parameters of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), which restricts missile sales involving a non-MTCR country to a maximum range of 300 km.
However, with India's admission into the MTCR, a new generation of BrahMos missiles, with ranges of 400 km and more, can legitimately be built by the Indo-Russian JV.

Two Diving Support Vessels of Indian Navy Launched in Visakhapatnam

The Indian Navy got two Diving Support Vessels (DSVs), indigenously built by Hindustan Shipyard Ltd, Visakhapatnam.
Admiral R. Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, was the chief guest at the launching ceremony. The vessels were launched by Kala Hari Kumar, President of the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA).
The first of its kind indigenously designed vessels are 118.4 metres long, 22.8 metres at the broadest point and will have a displacement of 9,350 tons.
These ships would be deployed for deep sea diving operations. Additionally, with Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) embarked, the DSVs are designed to undertake submarine rescue operations, in case a requirement exists. Furthermore, these ships will be capable of sustained patrolling, conducting search and rescue operations and carrying out helicopter operations at the high seas.
The contract for the construction of the two vessels was signed with the Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) in 2018.

Defence Ministry Signs MoU with Bank of Baroda, HDFC Bank under SPARSH- System for Pension Admini...

The Defence Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding, MoU, with Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank under the SPARSH- System for Pension Administration initiative with an objective to cover seventeen lakh, defence pensioners, across the country.
Defence Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar said that seventeen lakh pensioners out of the total thirty-two lakh defence pensioners would be added with SPARSH by the end of this month. The remaining pensioners would be brought at the earliest. The Defence Secretary highlighted that the average time in pension settlement has come down significantly to about 16 days.
The Ministry said that the MoU would onboard more than 14 thousand bank branches as Service Centres to provide an effective medium for pensioners to perform profile update requests, register grievances and seek redressal, pensioner data verification and many more. It mentioned that so far, the SPARSH initiative has crossed one million pensioners onboard mark and disbursed 11 thousand 6 hundred crore rupees in the 2021-22 fiscal year.
