Royal Challengers Bangalore Unveils New Logo

Royal Challengers Bangalore unveiled its new logo ahead of the upcoming season starting March 23.
The club said the new logo design, which features a lion, embodies the bold and fearless attitude of the side.
As per Sanjeev Churiwala, Chairman of Royal Challengers Bangalore, the element in the logo is a commitment to continuously entertain and engage with fans who are the force behind Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Royal Challengers Bangalore recently announced a three-year partnership with Muthoot Fincorp Ltd.

Khelo India Winter Games in Ladakh and J&K

Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that the Union Territory of Ladakh will host the inaugural Khelo India Winter Games later this month followed by a similar event in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir in March.
The sports ministry will fund both the Khelo India Winter Games - in Ladakh in the third week of February and in Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of March.
The Khelo India Ladakh Winter Games will feature an open ice hockey championship, figure skating, and speed skating and the competition will be conducted at the block, district and UT levels with expected participation of about 1700 athletes.
The competitions of the Khelo India J&K Winter Games will be held at Kongdori, Gulmarg in four age categories for both boys and girls.
Athletes in the age categories of 19-21 years, 17-18 years, 15-16 years and 13-14 years can compete in alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing.
Around 841 athletes and officials are expected to participate in the Games being organised by J&K Sports Council and Winter Games Association of J&K, with 15 teams from different states and organisations.

Tendulkar Versus Lara in Road Safety World Series Opener

Two of the biggest names in world cricket — legendary Sachin Tendulkar and West Indian Brian Lara — will once again be up against each other for a noble cause.
The two champion players will clash against each other in the opening game of the 'Unacademy Road Safety World Series', a T20 tournament, when India Legends will take on West Indies Legends at Wankhede Stadium here on March 7.
As per the series schedule, a total of 11 matches will be played in the tournament.
The series will feature some big names in cricket from India, Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies and South Africa like Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Brett Lee, Brad Hodge, Jonty Rhodes, Muttiah Muralitharan, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Ajantha Mendis.
According to the organisers, the series aims to create awareness about road safety.
Two of these 11 matches will be played at Wankhede, four at the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune, four at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and the final game will be played at Brabourne Stadium here on March 22.

Vidit Gujrathi Posts Win against Sam Shankland in Prague Chess Opener

India's Vidit Santosh Gujrathi opened his campaign in the Master's event of the Prague Chess Festival with a win over Sam Shankland of the USA. P. Harikrishna (ELO rating 2713), the other Indian player in the field, held Sweden's Nils Grandelius to a 36-move draw in a Nimzo-Indian game.
Vidit Gujrathi and Harikrishna are ranked two and three in the latest FIDE list behind the legendary Viswanathan Anand.
Top-seeds Jan-Krzysztof Duda of Poland and Nikita Vitiugov (Russia) were the other winners in the opening round.

USA Equals Lowest ODI Score

United States of America suffered a miserable collapse to lose eight wickets for nine runs to be bowled out for just 35 against Nepal in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 fixture in Kirtipur. The 35-run total is the joint lowest in ODI history as the USA equalled Zimbabwe's 16-year-old unwanted record. In 2004, Zimbabwe fell apart to be dismissed for just 35 against Sri Lanka in Harare.
Experienced Sandeep Lamichhane picked up six wickets with the remaining four going to Sushan Bhari. Xavier Marshall top-scored for the USA, with 16 runs, and was the only player to reach double figures.

Bopanna & Shapovalov in Quarter-finals

India's Rohan Bopanna teamed up with Canada's Denis Shapovalov to enter the quarter-finals of the Rotterdam Open with a hard-fought victory over Australia's John Peers and Michael Venus. The Indo-Canadian pair defeated Peers-Venus 7-6 6-7 10-8 in a thrilling match at the ATP 500 event.
Bopanna and Shapovalov will next face the fourth-seeded pair of Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau.

Bishnoi among Five Players Sanctioned

Akash Singh and Ravi Bishnoi — and three Bangladesh players were found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute and handed suspension points for the ugly on-field confrontation that marred the Under-19 World Cup final in South Africa.
Akash and Bishnoi along with Bangladesh's Md Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain and Rakibul Hasan were found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct after the two sides nearly came to blows following Bangladesh's three-wicket win for their maiden U-19 World Cup title.
The five players have been found guilty of a Level 3 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Support Personnel, (they) were charged with violating Article 2.21 of the code, whilst Bishnoi received a further charge of breaching Article 2.5.

All-India Chess Federation Elections

Five people were declared unopposed for various posts by the returning officer for the All-India Chess Federation (AICF) elections.
Ajay Patel was elected as president, Bharat Singh Chauhan as secretary, Naresh Sharma as treasurer, M Arun Singh as joint secretary and Vipnesh Bharadwaj as vice-president, Returning Officer for AICF elections former Supreme Court judge Justice FMI Kalifulla said.
The AICF is split into two camps, one headed by P R Venketrama Raja, the president and one led by Chauhan. Those elected belong to the Chauhan faction.

England skipper Eoin Morgan named captain of the year by ESPNcricinfo

Eoin Morgan was Monday named captain of the year by the ESPNcricinfo Awards jury for leading England to their maiden ODI World Cup triumph.
After losing to Sri Lanka and Australia in the tournament, England needed to win four straight games to lift the trophy – which they did, winning the title after a tied thriller against New Zealand.
The ODI batting performance of the year award went to Ben Stokes for his nerveless performance in the World Cup final. He made an unbeaten 84 in the regulation 50 overs and a further seven in the Super Over.
Stokes' epic rearguard in the Headingley Ashes Test lost out narrowly in the Test batting category to Kusal Perera who made a landmark 153 not out against South Africa in Durban to take the title.

Premier Badminton League

Bengaluru Raptors became the first team in the Premier Badminton League championship to win back-to-back titles when it scored a 4-2 win over first-time finalist North-Eastern Warriors in the fifth edition at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.

Aditya Mehta wins National Snooker Championship

Ace cuiest Aditya Mehta defeated multiple-time world champion Pankaj Advani 6-2 to win the National Snooker Championship.
Mehta, who represented the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) in the clash on Sunday night, started off with a bang after wining the first frame with a break of 103 while the score remained 103-17.
He lost the next two frames with a close margin of 50 -58, 47-48 and it looked like Advani was staging a comeback.
But, Mehta held his nerves and claimed all the following four frames to win the title with a 6-2 score line in the best of 11 frames.
In the women's snooker finals, Karnataka's Vidya Pillai edged out Amee Kamani of Madhya Pradesh 3-2 (41-68, 57 -35, 37-61, 69-50, 87-05) to defend her senior ladies snooker title.
