Novak Djokovic Reaches French Open Semis

World number one Novak Djokovic reached his 10th French Open semi-final but suffered an injury scare before beating Spain`s Pablo Carreno Busta 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.
A month after being defaulted for inadvertently striking a line judge with a ball while playing Carreno Busta in the U.S. Open fourth round, the 33-year-old Serbian found himself in trouble once again.
This time it was nothing more sinister than apparent physical problems.

Polish Teenager Swiatek Powers into French Open Semis

Polish teenager Iga Swiatek recovered from a nervy start to outclass Italian qualifier Martina Trevisan 6-3 6-1 and move into the French Open semi-finals.
The 19-year-old, who thrashed Romania's top seed Simona Halep to reach her first Grand Slam quarter-final, looked tight as she trailed 3-1 after a long wait to get on court but then took charge with some aggressive hitting.
She is the first Polish woman to reach the French Open semi-finals since Jadwiga Jedrzejowska was runner-up in 1939.

Nadal Storms into French Open Semi-finals

Claycourt master Rafael Nadal passed his first real test of this year's French Open with a 7-6(4) 6-4 6-1 victory against Italian rising star Jannik Sinner.
The Spaniard, also looking to match Roger Federer's record of 20 Grand Slam men's singles titles, was stretched by the 19-year-old Sinner.
The 34-year-old Nadal's 97 previous victories at Roland Garros made the difference in key moments with the Spaniard rallying from a break down in the first two sets.
Sinner, the first French Open debutant to reach the last eight since Nadal in 2005, confirmed his immense potential but lacked just a bit of composure when it mattered.

Saina and Kashyap Pull Out of Denmark Open

Indian badminton couple Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap pulled out of the Denmark Open Super 750 tournament, which will restart the international calendar at Odense from October 13. The BWF World Tour was shut down in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sania will start the season from January only with the Asian tour.

Petra Kvitova Reaches First French Open Quarter-final in Eight Years

Czech left-hander Petra Kvitova reached the French Open quarter-finals for the first time in eight years as she overpowered China`s Zhang Shuai.
On yet another chilly day in the French capital, seventh seed Kvitova`s superior firepower proved decisive as she posted her fourth successive straight-sets victory.
With so many big names already out, Kvitova will sense a golden title opportunity as she heads into a quarter-final against either Germany`s Laura Siegemund or Spain`s Paula Badosa, neither of whom are seeded.
The 30-year-old Czech, who reached the semi-finals in 2012, made her intentions clear from the start as she seized on anything short to dominate from the baseline, moving 4-0 ahead in 15 minutes on Court Philippe Chatrier.

French Open 2020: Rafael Nadal Storms into Quarter-finals

Rafael Nadal blew away American qualifier Sebastian Korda 6-1 6-1 6-2 to romp into the French Open quarter-finals and close in on a record-extending 13th title at Roland Garros.
With the sun out and the wind up on Court Philippe Chatrier it always looked like mission impossible for the 213th-ranked Korda, and so it proved in a one-sided fourth round match.
Nadal has lost no sets and only 23 games in reaching his 42nd Grand Slam quarter-final and is yet to face a seed. Rising Italian Jannick Sinner, the first player since Nadal in 2005 to reach the quarter-finals on his debut, is next.

Roger Federer and Serena Williams All Set to Play Australian Open 2021

Roger Federer and Serena Williams have confirmed they will take part in the 2021 Australian Open, with the year`s first Grand Slam in Melbourne expected to allow fans to fill up to 50% of seats.
The return of fans will mark a big change for Melbourne, which has been under a strict coronavirus lockdown for nearly three months. The state of Victoria, of which Melbourne is the capital, accounts for 90% of Australia`s 894 COVID-19-related deaths.
Federer reached the semi-finals of this year`s Australian Open but the 20-times Grand Slam winner has missed the rest of the season after undergoing a second procedure on his right knee.
Williams has pulled out of her second round match at the French Open 2020 due to an achilles injury and is still one short of Court`s record 24 Grand Slam titles.

Serena Williams Pulls Out of French Open

Serena Williams` search for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title will extend into another year after an achilles tendon injury forced her to withdraw from the French Open.
The American had been due to play Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova in the second round later but after a warm-up decided the injury was too severe.
Williams had suffered the problem during her semi-final loss to Victoria Azarenka in the U.S. Open this month and said ahead of her Roland Garros campaign that she was not at 100% physically but had recovered sufficiently to play.
Williams had also pulled out of the French Open in 2018 with an abdominal injury before a last-16 clash with Maria Sharapova.
