VVS Laxman to Replace Rahul Dravid as National Cricket Academy Boss

The Indian cricket board (BCCI) persuaded former India batsman VVS Laxman to head the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Laxman will take over from his former India teammate Rahul Dravid, who was appointed the chief coach of the Indian team, after the term of Ravi Shastri ended with the team's exit from the T20 World Cup.
Laxman has already quit as mentor of IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad and will also not be part of any commentary panel or write columns for newspapers to avoid getting into a conflict of interest situation.

Australia Wins its first T20 WC

Australia lifted their maiden T20 World Cup trophy with a commanding eight-wicket win over New Zealand in the title clash which was rendered one-sided by Mitchell Marsh with his blistering 77-run knock, at Dubai International Stadium.
Skipper Kane Williamson top-scorer for the Black Caps with his 85-run knock while opener Martin Guptill contributed 28 runs after Australia inserted them in to take first strike.
Opener David Warner's 38-ball 53 and Marsh's 50-ball unbeaten 77 meant that Australia overhauled the target of 173 with consummate ease in 18.5 overs.

Janette Brittin, Mahela Jayawardene and Shaun Pollock Inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

Cricket legends Janette Brittin, Shaun Pollock and Mahela Jayawardene were inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, the International Cricket Council announced.
Former England cricketer Janette Brittin played 27 Tests and 63 ODIs for England between 1979 and 1998, is among the greatest batters to have played women's cricket.
She is the highest run-scorer (1935 at 49.61), century-maker (five) and most-capped player (27) in women's Test history.
Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene played 652 international matches, comprising 149 Tests, 448 ODIs and 55 T20Is. Only India's Sachin Tendulkar played more international matches, pipping the Sri Lankan by 12 games.
Shaun Pollock played 108 Tests, 303 ODIs and 12 T20Is across 13 years after making his Test debut in 1995 against England. An all-rounder in the truest sense of the word, Pollock scored 7386 runs and took 829 wickets in international cricket, which is the seventh most of all time.

Nethra Clinches Gold at Gran Canaria Sailing

India's Nethra Kumanan won gold in the laser radial section of the Gran Canaria sailing championships, one of the European regional open events, held in Gran Canaria (Spain).
The 24-year-old finished first in three of the six races, garnering a total of 10 nett points. Beneyto Lancho of Spain came second while Martina Reino Cacho (Spain) emerged third.

Dwayne Bravo Announced Retirement from International Cricket

Trinidadian cricketer Dwayne Bravo, the former captain of the West Indies cricket team has confirmed his retirement from international cricket. He has played in all seven T20 World Cups and he has been a part of the West Indies team that won the T20 Title in 2012 and 2016. He has scored 1245 runs at an average of 22.23 and a strike rate of 115.38 and he has picked up 78 wickets.

New Zealand Beat England by 5 Wickets, Enter Final of T20 World Cup

New Zealand entered the final of the ICC T20 World Cup with a five-wicket win over England in a thrilling first semi-final.
Chasing 167 to win, Daryl Mitchell anchored the innings with a sensational unbeaten 72 off 47 balls, while Devon Conway scored a 38-ball 46. James Neesham smashed 27 off 11 runs to play a crucial role in the chase.

ICC Players of the Month for October

Pakistan's Asif Ali and Ireland's Laura Delany have been voted the ICC Players of the Month for October. Ali beat Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan and Namibia's David Wiese to the men's award, and Delany beat teammate Gaby Lewis and Zimbabwe's Mary-Anne Musonda to the women's prize.
Ali scored 52 runs without defeat across three matches for Pakistan in October at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, scoring at a strike rate of 273.68. Ireland captain Delany shone in their 3-1 ODI series win over Zimbabwe. The all-rounder flourished with bat and ball, scoring 189 runs at 63, and taking four wickets at 27.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) presents the ICC Player of the Month to recognise male and female cricketers who have best performed across all forms of international cricket in a particular month.
