The first 27 satellites for Amazon's Kuiper broadband internet constellation were launched into space from Florida, kicking off the long-delayed deployment of an internet-from-space network that will rival SpaceX's Starlink.
The satellites are the first of 3,236 that Amazon plans to send into low-Earth orbit for Project Kuiper, a $10 billion effort unveiled in 2019 to beam broadband internet globally for consumers, businesses and governments - customers that SpaceX has courted for years with its powerful Starlink business.

Centre Selects start-up Sarvam to Build Country's First Home-grown AI Model
The government selected Bengaluru-based start-up Sarvam to build the country's first indigenous artificial intelligence (AI) large language model (LLM) amid waves made by China's low cost model DeepSeek. The start-up, chosen from among 67 applicants, will receive support from the government in terms of compute resources to build the model from scratch.
Sarvam is the first start-up to get approved for sops under India's ambitious Rs. 10,370 crore IndiaAI Mission to build a model, with the government currently assessing hundreds of other proposals.

NASA's Mars rover pictured a mysterious, skull-shaped rock on the Red Planet whose origin remains uncertain. The mysterious rock, which NASA is calling the 'Skull Hill', was discovered on the Jezero crater rim.
Though most of the region surrounding the rock is light-colored and dusty, Skull Hill is dark, angular, and covered in tiny pits. This float rock uniquely contrasts the surrounding light-toned outcrop with its dark tone and angular surface, and it features a few pits in the rock.

NASA's Oldest Astronaut Returns to Earth after 220 Days in Space
NASA's oldest serving astronaut Donald Pettit celebrated his 70th by returning to Earth after seven months aboard the International Space Station.
Pettit landed near Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan, on April 20, the day he turned 70 �" alongside Russian crewmates Alexei Ovchinin and Ivan Vagner.
This was the fourth space mission, bringing his total time spent in orbit to over 18 months across his nearly 30-year NASA career.
