Google Unveils Beam: The Future of 3D Video Communication
In a significant leap for virtual communication, Google has announced the launch of Google Beam, an AI-first 3D video communication platform that transforms remote interactions into highly realistic, face-to-face-like experiences.
Formerly known as Project Starline, this innovation marks a paradigm shift in how people and enterprises connect across distances—without the need for headsets or glasses.
With partnerships with global giants like Zoom, HP, and Deloitte, Google Beam is poised to revolutionise workplace communication and break down global language barriers through AI-powered real-time speech translation.
India Launches World's Highest Resolution Weather Forecast System " BFS
In a significant stride toward self-reliance in meteorological science, the Government of India unveiled the Bharat Forecasting System (BFS) on May 26, 2025. Developed by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, and powered by the high-speed supercomputer Arka, BFS aims to deliver the most accurate and localised weather forecasts in the world with an unprecedented 6 km x 6 km grid resolution.
This launch marks a transformative upgrade from the previous 12-km models and brings India to the forefront of high-resolution weather prediction capabilities.
The Bharat Forecasting System (BFS) was officially launched by Union Earth Sciences Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. It represents a major technological leap for India's meteorological capabilities, improving disaster risk management, agricultural planning, and public safety with precise and ultra-local weather forecasting. Powered by the Arka supercomputer, BFS provides forecasts at a 6 km resolution — the highest in the world.

NASA's GRAIL Mission Solves Lunar Mystery of Moon's Asymmetry
In a major breakthrough, a new NASA study based on data from the GRAIL (Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory) mission finally resolved a decades-old mystery about why the Moon's nearside looks dramatically different from its far-side. The findings provide crucial insights into the Moon's internal structure, volcanic history, and thermal evolution.
NASA launched the GRAIL in 2011 from Cape Canaveral via Delta II rocket.
ISRO's 101st Mission Fails as PSLV Rocket Suffers Malfunction
In a rare failure, India's main rocket PSLV developed problems a few minutes after take-off and failed to place earth observation satellite EOS-09 into the intended orbit in an early morning launch.
It was not immediately clear what caused the failure of the flight. In a short statement, ISRO said that the problem was observed in the third stage but did not give any details.
This was the 101st mission launched by ISRO, and the 63rd one using the PSLV rocket, which is the most successful launch vehicle developed by India's space agency. PSLV has failed on only two earlier occasions.
