British Council Launches Scholarships for Women in STEM

The British Council launched a number of scholarships for women in STEM. It has established programmes to support women and girls in STEM around the world, designed with a lifecycle approach in mind, from inspiring young girls to stay in STEM to supporting women working in STEM fields reach positions of leadership and network with their peers in their region and the UK.
This year, supported by the British Council, the University of Strathclyde is delighted to announce six fully funded scholarships for female students from South Asia interested in pursuing master's studies in the field of Energy Transition.
The six scholarships are on offer for female students from the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Amazon India Launches Free Study Material for JEE Aspirants

Amazon India launched Amazon Academy to help students in the preparation for the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). The online preparation offering will equip students with in-depth knowledge and practice routines required for the JEE, through curated learning material, live lectures and comprehensive assessments in Math, Physics and Chemistry.

Kerala to Launch 'One school, One IAS' Programme

An institute helmed by top academics and retired IAS and IPS officers in Kerala is organising an ambitious programme called 'OneSchool One IAS, seeking to demolish the general notion that civil services are for the elite class alone.
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan will this weekend inaugurate the scheme, being rolled out under the Vedhik Erudite Foundations Scholarship Programme, the foundation.
The programme provides free training to economically backward, but academically bright aspirants of civil services and other competitive exams.
The scheme, supported by sponsors, envisages enrollment of 10,000 boys and girls across Kerala. The beneficiaries will be selected by a panel headed by the heads of respective educational institutions.

Scholastic India Launches Language Improvement Programme

Scholastic India, the country's largest publisher of children's books and a leader in educational technology and children's media has recently introduced a comprehensive Language Improvement Programme for kids of grades 3 to 8. The newly introduced online programme offers interactive live classes in small batches of up to 6 students conducted by experienced coaches, based on a scientific learning methodology to provide an engaging peer learning experience to every child.

IIM Ahmedabad Team to Represent India in FABLES Consortium

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad researchers will be representing India in The Food and Land Use Coalition, the Food, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Land-Use, and Energy (FABLE) Consortium, which mobilizes top knowledge institutions from 20 countries to support the development of decision-support tools and long-term pathways towards sustainable food and land-use systems.
IIM Ahmedabad Professor Ranjan Kumar Ghosh is leading the team for FABLE Pathways for India which identifies ways in which food and land-use systems can contribute to raising climate ambition, aligning climate mitigation and biodiversity protection policies, and achieving other sustainable development priorities in India.
The FABLE Pathways presents two pathways for food and land-use systems for the period 2020-2050: Current Trends which represents the Business as Usual scenario and a Sustainable, more ambitious pathway.

IIT Jammu Organises its First-ever Convocation Ceremony

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu organised its first-ever convocation ceremony, however, it was conducted in a hybrid model.
The ceremony was attended by 79 students. Out of the 79 graduates, 39 received their degrees while present on campus while 40 graduates were awarded their degrees online.

All-women Air India Pilot Team Scripts History

An all-women Air India pilot team flew over the North Pole on the world's longest air route and successfully landed at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru from San Francisco, covering a distance of about 16,000 kilometres.
According to Shivani Manhas, one of the four pilots, who operated Air India's inaugural San Francisco-Bengaluru flight said that it took almost 17 hours to reach Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.

India's Institutions of Eminence can Set up Campuses in Foreign Countries

Indian universities and colleges with the Institutions of Eminence (IOEs) tag, which include several IITs, will now be able to set up campuses in foreign countries with the University Grants Commission (UGC) issuing fresh guidelines on the same. The Education Ministry had launched the IoE scheme in 2018 as per which 20 institutions were to be selected -- 10 public and 10 private ones -- that would enjoy complete academic and administrative.
The new guidelines have been issued in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP) as per which foreign universities will be allowed to set up campuses in India and top Indian institutes in foreign countries.

Telangana HC Gets First Woman Chief Justice

Justice Hima Kohli was sworn in as Chief Justice of the High Court for the State of Telangana at Raj Bhavan.
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office to Justice Hima Kohli. She is the first woman Chief Justice of Telangana HC which was carved out of the Hyderabad HC for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on January 1, 2019.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Legislative Council Chariman Gutha Sukender Reddy, Union Minister of State for Home G. Kishan Reddy, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and other dignitaries were present.

IAF signs MoU with IDSR for officers to undertake doctoral research

Indian Air Force and Institute of Defence Studies and Research — IDSR- an autonomous Institution of Gujarat University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This will enable the Officers of IAF to undertake Doctoral Research, Post-Graduate Programme and Post Graduate Diploma. These courses will cover various areas of interest that include Defence studies, Defence Management, National Security, Aerospace & Aviation Science and other areas of Defence Technology.
The event was chaired by Air Officer-in-Charge Personnel, Air Marshal R.J. Duckworth in virtual mode. The MoU was signed by Air Vice Marshal Rajeev Sharma- Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Education) and Ms. Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary of Higher & Technical Education of Gujarat Government and Chairperson- IDSR. Professor Himanshu Pandya, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University and Director-General IDSR was also present on the occasion.
