Gender Sensitisation Project in Punjab Govt. Schools

The Punjab school education department has decided to start a 'gender sensitisation project' in government schools across the state.
A spokesperson of the department said that under the leadership of Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla, they have been making continuous efforts to raise the standard of students.
As part of these efforts, the 'gender sensitisation project' is being launched during the 2021-22 academic session for students of classes VI to VIII. This project will be implemented in all government schools.

IIM Bangalore's 46th Convocation

IIM Bangalore hosted its 46th Convocation. The entire event was held, in the virtual mode, in the presence of the Chairperson of the IIMB Board of Directors Dr. Devi Shetty, IIMB Director Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Dean Programmes Professor Abhoy Ojha, Dean Faculty Professor Chetan Subramanian, Dean Administration Professor Rajendra K Bandi, Dean Alumni Relations and Development Professor K. Kumar, Chairpersons of all the programmes and faculty members. The event included the award of gold medals.
The awards include gold medals for Best All Round Performance, Best Academic Performance, First Rank and Second Rank.
A total of 624 students from various programmes graduated. The programme-wise details are as follows. Doctoral Programme (PhD): 22 students, Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP): 435, Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP): 72, Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM): 71, and Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy & Management (PGPPM): 24.

IGNOU Awards Students with Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates at the 34th Convocation

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) recently organised its 34th convocation ceremony virtually and conferred 2,37,844 degrees, diplomas and certificates to students of various programmes.
As many as nine medals were awarded to the meritorious students at the ceremony virtually. Around 55 PhD and 13 MPhil degree certificates were also conferred to the successful students in different streams. This time, female students have excelled, and out of total 29 medals, 21 were awarded to female students, and of the total PhD and MPhil degrees awarded, 37 were awarded to female students.
Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', education minister, in his speech, stressed on the need to provide education that could make one self-reliant which he said is the key highlight of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 that integrates vocational education bringing constructive changes in the education system.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Opens Admissions for Two UG Courses with AI Applic...

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), ranked No. 1 in Times Higher Education's Young University Rankings 2020 and No. 27 among global universities in the QS World University Rankings 2021, invites applications for its two popular undergraduate degree programs - Science (Group A) * or Engineering, with an extended Major in Artificial Intelligence for the new 2021- 2022 academic year, among others.
While AI is a hot topic, studying a new program solely on new emerging knowledge may not be the most effective for students, as such knowledge should be best integrated into the existing system so students could make sense of such novel technologies in real-life applications.
The two programs are set within a four-year timeframe with a well-defined study pathway, the graduates will earn a title bearing both the traditional major subject they selected, as well as the extended major which now only covers AI, but will be extended to cover data science, FinTech and digital media and arts in the near future.

Gujarat Govt. to Mass Promote Students from Classes 1 to 9, 11

Gujarat class 10 and 12 exams cancelled or postponed decision will be announced after May 15, 2021. Gujarat Government has decided to conduct a meeting on May 15, 2021, to discuss whether to postpone or cancel class 10 and 12 exams.
The state government has decided to mass promote students from classes 1-9 and 11 due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation in the state.

NEET PG 2021 Postponed

After the CBSE board exams were postponed for class 12 and cancelled for class 10, the central government took the decision to postponed NEET PG 2021 which was scheduled to be held on April 18. The final NEET exam date will be decided later on.
Decision has been taken keeping wellbeing of medical students.

IIT Madras Industry Conclave 2021

Indian Institute of Technology Madras is going to host an 'Industry Conclave 2021' on April 17 and 18, 2021 to promote Industry-Academic Collaboration and develop means to generate new ideas for constructive partnerships.
This is the first edition and will become an annual event to enhance collaboration between academia and the industry. The event will feature representatives from various Government agencies, multinational corporate groups and IIT Madras.
Being organized by the Corporate Relations Cell of the International and Alumni Relations Student Council, IIT Madras, this initiative also aims to showcase the cutting-edge work research, innovation, and start-up community of the Institute ecosystem.

Govt. Puts Off Class 12 Boards

The Education Ministry postponed the CBSE Class 12 board exams and cancelled the Class 10 exams amid growing concerns over the surge in Covid-19 infections in the country.
For the Class 12 exam, the Ministry will review the situation on June 1 to decide fresh dates and make an announcement at least two weeks before the start of the exams.
The decision, which affects roughly 21.5 lakh Class 10 students and 14 lakh Class 12 students across the country, was taken at a meeting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had with Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and the Ministry's top officers.
