IIM Nagpur Partners with Jaro Education

The Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIMN) has collaborated with Jaro Education, one of the leading EdTech companies in India and a pioneer in the Executive Education space to jointly introduce 4 techno-functional blended postgraduate (PG) certificate programmes. The new PG programmes aim to equip working professionals with future-ready skills, empowering them with the knowledge focussed on both technical and functional expertise, which are required in today's digitally-driven business environment.
The techno-functional PG programmes are apt for mid-level working professionals in key business functions such as business management, marketing, information technology and financial technologies (fintech). These programmes with a duration of 9 12 months, comprising 16 modules under the guidance of IIM Nagpur's highly experienced and professional faculty. These programmes also include regular mentoring sessions from industry experts.

Uttar Pradesh Bans Hike in School Fees for Academic Year 2021-22

The Uttar Pradesh government has banned any increase in school fees across all the boards for the upcoming academic session (2021-2022) owing to the coronavirus pandemic situation.
Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who also holds the portfolio of Secondary Education department, said that many families are affected economically due to the COVID-19 second wave and schools are physically closed while online classes are going on.
The Deputy CM said that schools can take fees in accordance with the arrangements they had for the 2019-20 session as the fees was not hiked last year also due to the similar situation during the first wave. "Those who have taken hiked fees in this academic session should adjust it in future and also no transportation fees should be charged for the days that the schools are closed.

Tripura Announces to Transform 20 State-run Schools to 'Specified Category'

In an effort to provide quality education to students in the state-run schools, Tripura has announced plans to transform 20 schools into specified category of schools. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that students from any part of the state can study in these schools. The schools would be equipped with all sorts of services to facilitate smooth studies and a host of extra curricular activities.
"Apart from CBSE pattern of syllabus, facilities of libraries, playground, teachers, laboratory, etc would be available in the schools. The students need to face screening tests and a lottery system to get admission," Nath said.
Teachers and headmasters for these specified schools would be selected through special recruitment exams.
Students in these institutions would require to sit for examinations when schools will open to evaluate the educational loss of the students in the COVID-19 pandemic, he added. Meanwhile, summer vacation was extended from May 25 till June 6.

Tripura Launches 24x7 Dedicated Educational Channel

Fourteen months into the pandemic, Tripura launched 'Vande Tripura', a 24×7 dedicated educational channel to offer lessons on the school syllabus and cover the educational loss incurred in the last 14 months of the pandemic, as schools, colleges and other educational institutions are shut down to break the chain of transmission.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that the channel was conceived as the first-ever initiative of its type to enable students in getting their lessons despite the shutdown in educational institutions.
Launched, Vande Tripura has started with recorded lessons. It would shift to live classes, discussions on different academic topics, educational news and different information relating to the education department and directorate from June 1.

China Bars Foreign Curricula, Ownership in Some Private Schools

China's State Council has announced tough new curbs on school curricula and ownership of private schools, the latest in a series of measures intended to tighten control of the country's fast-growing education sector.
The new law, which comes into effect on Sept. 1, halts the teaching of foreign curricula in schools from kindergarten to grade nine (K-9) and prohibits the ownership or control of any private K-9 schools by foreign entities.
China currently has private K-9 schools that teach local and foreign curricula. Ninth grade students in China are typically 15 or 16 years old.
Members of the board of directors or any other decision- making body at a private K-9 school must be Chinese nationals and must include representatives from the regulators, according to the Private Education Promotion Law published on Friday on a government website.
The K-9 schools will no longer be able to organise entrance tests or recruit in advance. They also will be barred from establishing private schools or converting themselves into private schools.

Haryana Declares Black Fungus a Notified Disease

Black Fungus has been categorised as a notified disease in Haryana, making it imperative that government authorities be informed about each case. This will allow in the tracking and management of an outbreak. The COVID-19 pandemic in India has catalysed the spread of black fungus or mucormycosis, which can disfigure people even when it is not fatal. Declaring a disease notifiable helps collate information and lets authorities monitor the disease and set off early warnings.
"Black fungus" mainly affects people on medication for other health problems that reduce their ability to fight environmental pathogens, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research. The COVID-19 pandemic in India has catalysed the fungal infection into a dangerous disease disfiguring scores and even killing some.

Jamia Millia Islamia Releases E-prospectus for academic session 2021-22

The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) launched e-prospectus for the academic session 2021-22. The prospectus containing information about admission to various undergraduate, postgraduate, BTech, BArch, diploma, advanced diploma, postgraduate diploma courses has been uploaded on the university's website www.jmi.ac.in and portal of the controller of examinations at www.jmicoe.in.
The online application form must be submitted by June 30, 2021. The correction window will be available from July 1-5, 2021.
The entrance test for 134 courses will begin on July 26 and conclude on August 28, 2021, and the last date for submitting the qualifying exam result is September 30, 2021.
The university will offer the fllowing 8 new courses from the coming academic session:
Master of Design in the Faculty of Architecture, BA (Hons.) French and Francophone Studies in Centre of Spanish and Latin American Studies, BA (Hons.) Spanish and Latin American Studies in Centre of Spanish and Latin American Studies, MSc Environmental Science & Management, MA Mass Media (Hindi) in the Department of Hindi, PG Diploma in Translation Studies in the Department of English, PG Diploma in English-Hindi Translation in the Department of Hindi and MBA (Healthcare & Hospital Management).
The university is also starting four new departments from the coming session – (1) Department of Design and Innovation (2) Department of Hospital Management and Hospice Studies (3) Department of Foreign Languages and (4) Department of Environmental Sciences.

MJPRU Admission 2021 to be Given Considering JEE Main 2021, UPCET 2021 Marks

Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, has decided to give admissions to students on the basis of Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main 2021 and the Uttar Pradesh Combined Entrance Test, UPCET 2021 scores.
The institute will use UPCET 2021 for admitting students to the first year of Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses.
Admission to the second year (lateral entry) of Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) will be given based on UPCET 2021 results.
JEE Main 2021 scores will be used for BTech admission.
Apart from MJPRU, APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, AKTU, Lucknow, Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur, and Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, will also use UPCET for admission to different programmes.

No Summer Vacations for Students in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an order for all schools and colleges in the state to commence online classes for students from May 20 onwards.
In the order, the Uttar Pradesh government has directed all educational institutions to start online classes from May 20 so that the students in the state do not miss out on their set curriculum amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, online classes will not resume for students of primary classes.
Earlier, the state government had issued an order on May 10 suspending online classes for all educational institutions amid surge in COVID-19 infections.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said that the academic work in schools was earlier stopped from April to May 20, which will be considered as summer vacation and online classes will be conducted in schools from May 20.

University of California Drops SAT and ACT Scores

The University of California won't consider SAT and ACT scores that are submitted with admission and scholarship applications under a settlement of a student lawsuit that was announced Friday. The 10-campus system, which has more than 280,000 students statewide, decided not to continue fighting a judge's injunction issued last fall that barred it from considering the scores for admission even when they were submitted voluntarily.
