IIM Sambalpur Achieves 100% Placement with Multi Fold Increase in Recruiters

IIM Sambalpur, the hand-crafted IIM and one of the most promising and dynamic management institutions among the new generation IIMs of the country, witnessed close to 140 companies visiting the campus this season with prominent participants and recruiters such as Nielsen, Reliance Retail, Ramco Systems, Tech Mahindra, Mindtree, Amul, Vedanta, HCL, SBI Life, Tata Steel BSL, Accenture, IBM, BYJU's, Infosys, ICICI Prudential, Trident Group, Bajaj Allianz, ZS Associates, Deloitte India, KPMG, Ernst & Young, etc.
The graduates were offered a myriad of lucrative roles across Marketing, Sales, BFSI, Operations, Consulting, Analytics, ITeS and bagged highly coveted roles in Fintech, E-Commerce, FMCG, and so on.

IIT-Delhi Launches BTech in Energy Engineering

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi will soon launch a new department of energy science and engineering for expanding the scope and depth of activities being undertaken by the 45-year-old Centre for Energy Studies (CES). The CES will be converted into the Department of Energy Science and Engineering.
Besides continuing with three existing MTech programmes (including one sponsored by the International Solar Alliance for working fellows from different countries) presently being offered by the Centre for Energy Studies, the new department would offer an undergraduate degree programme, i.e. BTech in Energy Engineering starting from the academic session 2021-2022 with an intake of 40 students qualifying JEE (Advanced).

IIT-Madras Collaborates with IBM for Research in Quantum Computing

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has collaborated with IBM on quantum computing education and research. The institute's faculty, researchers, and students will get access to IBM's quantum systems and tools over IBM Cloud to accelerate joint research in quantum computing, and develop curricula.
The Quantum Computing Lab at IIT Madras will host courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Quantum Computing Lab courses jointly taught by IIT Madras faculty and IBM researchers will include hands-on lab sessions on the IBM quantum systems and will augment existing courses on quantum information and computing. IBM will provide the learning resources, tools, and systems access needed by the faculty and students.
Quantum computing is fast emerging as one of the disruptive technologies of our times. This collaboration with IIT Madras is part of the IBM Quantum Educators program that helps teachers in the quantum field connect with one another and provide learning resources, tools and systems access they need to provide quality educational experiences.

J&K to Provide Pension, Scholarship under 'Saksham' Scheme

The Administrative Council (AC), which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Jammu has approved the grant of financial relief through the Special Assistance Scheme for Covid Moralities (SASCM/Saksham) to the families of Covid victims. The scheme aims to ensure the sustenance of families who have lost their sole breadwinner.
Under the new scheme Saksham, the surviving spouse, and one eldest surviving member of affected families will receive a special monthly pension of Rs. 1000 through direct bank transfer (DBT), provided that they are not otherwise receiving any pension under other schemes.
Additionally, the scheme will also provide special scholarships to children who lost their earning parent(s)/ sibling(s)/ guardian(s) to Covid. The special scholarship will be paid annually at the rate of Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 40,000 through DBT to children studying up to 12th standard, and higher education, respectively.

Pune University Signs MoU with AFMC for Health Research

Pitching in to support the COVID 19 pandemic relief work, the administration at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune to prioritise research in the field of healthcare. The two institutions will conduct faculty exchange, joint research projects, provide internships and hands-on learning to students and come up with solutions for challenges faced by the public health sector.
Earlier SPPU had signed a similar MoU with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences as a part of the same effort.

Jharkhand Promotes 8 Lakh Students of Without Exams

The Jharkhand government has decided to promote 8 lakh students of classes 9 and 11 directly without exams due to Covid-19.
Director Secondary Education Harsh Mangla has issued a notification and advisory to all DCs of the state to this effect, asking them to promote the students of Classes 9 and 11 to Classes 10 and 12 following the lockdown and pandemic situation.
Such a large number of Jharkhand students have been promoted directly without exams because very few classes were held for the academic session 2020-21 as schools were able to reopen for a very short time only. The chances of schools reopening now are also bleak.

Jadavpur University Ranks 18th among Indian Higher Education Institutions

Jadavpur University occupies the 18th ranking among all Indian higher educational institutions in World University Rankings 2021/22 in the Centre for World University Ranking (CWUR).
Among the top 2,000 institutions across the globe, 68 Indian institutions have made the positions in that list and Jadavpur University has been accorded the 18th position among the Indian institutions.
Another premier state university of West Bengal, Calcutta University occupies the 20th rank among the Indian higher educational institutions in CWUR. Among the state universities of the country, Jadavpur University has been ranked second, just below the Panjab University.

IIT Kharagpur to Conduct GATE 2022

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur will conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022. IIT Bombay has handed over the responsibility of organising GATE 2022 to IIT Kharagpur after successful completion of GATE 2021 on schedule in spite of the pandemic. The examination dates of the GATE 2022 has not been announced yet and is expected to be released soon.
The GATE 2022 will include the following two new engineering papers: Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and Geomatics Engineering.

IIT Madras to Launch Tech Magazine Shaastra

Indian Institute of Technology Madras will launch a tech magazine 'Shaastra,' with focus on science, technology and innovation. This magazine will address a mass audience and articulate not just Indian but global trends.
Shaastra is developed by a professional team and aims to bring an Indian solution-driven perspective to developments in S&T as well as their impact on society. The magazine will be presented in both print and digital formats. It will feature a wide range of topics in S&T and developments in innovation happening in India as well as around the world. The readers will learn about the latest developments in S&T and their potential impact on Indian society and industry.
