PM Modi Launches Five New Initiatives for Accessible Education

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed teachers and students during the inaugural conclave of 'Shikshak Parv' via video-conferencing. He launched multiple key initiatives in the education sector on the occasion. The Ministry of Education (MoE) is celebrating Shikshak Parv, 2021 from September 5-17 in recognition of the valuable contributions of teachers and to take National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 a step forward.
Modi launched five initiatives on the occasion, including Indian sign language dictionary of 10,000 words, talking books (audiobooks for visually impaired), school quality assessment and accreditation framework (SQAAF) of CBSE, NISHTHA teachers' training programme for NIPUN Bharat, and Vidyanjali portal for facilitating education volunteers, donors and CSR contributors for school development.

Delhi Govt. Launches 'Business Blasters' Programme in All its Schools

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia launched the Delhi government's 'Business Blasters' programme which aims at developing young entrepreneurs at the school-level by providing students seed money to start a business.
The programme will be implemented in all Delhi government schools under the "Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum (EMC)".
As part of the programme, which he said was "successful as a pilot project", class 11 and 12 students will be provided seed money of Rs. 2,000 to start a business.
This programme, for the students of classes 11-12, is going to be the basis of the country's progress. Through this, children will not run after jobs, but jobs will come after these children.

In World First, Cuba Starts COVID-19 Vaccine for Toddlers

Cuba became the first country in the world to vaccinate children from the age of two against Covid-19, using home-grown jabs not recognised by the World Health Organisation.
The communist island of 11.2 million people aims to inoculate all its children before reopening schools that have been closed for the most part since March 2020.
Having completed clinical trials on minors with its Abdala and Soberana vaccines, Cuba kicked off its inoculation campaign for children, starting with those 12 and older.
It started distributing jabs in the 2-11 age group in the central province of Cienfuegos.
Several other countries in the world are vaccinating children from the age of 12, and some are conducting trials in younger kids.

Kochi Based Start-up Avodha Offers Courses in Vernacular Languages

Amid crises faced by the students and the educational sector in the state due to the pandemic, a start-up from Kochi has taken a different path and has been offering courses in vernacular languages other than English and considers the financial conditions of students in an empathetic manner while putting together their fee structure.
While most online learning platforms are offering courses in English, Avodha, a vernacular upskilling platform, is offering 20 courses in regional languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Six courses are also available in Hindi.
Besides software courses, Avodha has entered the hardware field, making it the very first start-up in India to offer hardware skill development, the company claimed. Hardware online courses that Avodha offers include mobile, laptop and A/C repair engineering.

Mizoram to Enroll Children of Myanmar Refugees in Govt. Schools

The Mizoram government has decided to enroll children of Myanmarese refugees who have taken shelter in the state after the military coup hit the neighbouring country.
Mizoram's School Education Director James Lalrinchhana, referring to the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE Act-2009), has asked all the district and sub-divisional education officers that children aged between 6 and 14 years belonging to disadvantaged communities have the right to be admitted to schools in a class appropriate to his or her age for completing elementary education.

IIM Shillong Joins Hands with SHRM, Talentedge

Ed-Tech firm, Talentedge has partnered with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong to launch "Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management".
This is the first time that any IIM has partnered with SHRM. The online, one-year course has been specifically designed to prepare learners for the faster-moving post-pandemic world.
The online program is designed to help management students gain both knowledge and application of knowledge across the HR function. It focuses on critical knowledge, skills, and competencies needed by HR professionals to scale the next level of success in the new normal.
