Paytm Launches EdTech Platform 'Paytm Wealth Academy'

Paytm, which got listed in bourses last month, launch Paytm Wealth Academy, a tech-powered educational platform. The launch of the wealth academy is initially on the Paytm Money app, the wealth management app owned by Paytm's wholly-owned subsidiary Paytm Money. Paytm Wealth Academy will initially be available to select users, followed by a complete rollout.
The Paytm Wealth Academy will allow users to learn trading and financial concepts at their own pace at their level of comfort. The platform offers a wide catalogue of courses and webinars along with personalized recommendations for users, curated to complement their existing knowledge.
Paytm Wealth Academy is an educational platform designed to make financial learning intuitive and self-driven. For the first time, highly customizable courses are being offered, allowing users to start their learning journey from any stage. This will allow new traders to establish a ground-up understanding of financial concepts and also encourage experienced traders to stay updated with advanced trading strategies.

Word of the Year 2021 by Cambridge Dictionary

In the year 2021 we saw several words getting added to our vocabulary. However, as per the five leading dictionaries, the five words that stood out the most were; vax, vaccine, perseverance, NFT, and allyship.
'Vax' was chosen as the word of the year by the Oxford due to the sheer amount of times that it was used.
The word 'vaccine' was chosen as the word of the year by Merriam Webster.
The word 'NFT', an abbreviation for 'non-fungible token', was chosen by the Collins dictionary as the word of the year for 2021.
The Cambridge dictionary chose the word 'perseverance' as the word of the year 2021.
The word 'allyship' was chosen as the word of the year for 2021 by Dictionary.com amongst various shortlisted words.

IIT Roorkee Bags First Position among most Innovative Institutions as Selected by CII

For the second year in a row, IIT Roorkee was selected by the prestigious Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the Industrial Innovation Awards. IIT Roorkee bagged the first position under the Most Innovative Research Institutions category this year.
The second and third positions went to IIT Madras and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services, Hyderabad (INCOIS), respectively.
Last year, IIT Roorkee was adjudged as 'The Most Innovative Institute of the Year' for its innovation quotient.
The awards were announced at the 27th DST-CII Technology Summit in the presence of Dr. Srivari Chandrashekhar, Secretary, DST, Government of India and Kris Gopalakrishnan, Past President, CII and Chairman, CII Industrial Innovation Awards.

IIM-Kozhikode Launches Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Emerging Tech

A Centre for Digital Innovation and Transformation (CDiT), which promotes and coordinates interdisciplinary research in emerging digital technologies, was opened at the IIM Kozhikode.
Co-founder of Infosys Kris Gopalakrishnan was the chief guest for the virtual inaugural function. In his inaugural address, Gopalakrishnan congratulated IIM Kozhikode for this initiative and expressed hope that the industry becomes an active participant in the activities of this centre because it is at the intersection of academic and industry activity.
IIM-Kozhikode has been a pioneer in digital outreach and was the first Business School in Asia to conduct programmes for working executives through satellite delivery systems (later through dedicated internet), called Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) mode, the first of its kind in Asia back in 2001.

NCERT Reviewing Syllabi, Textbooks to Reduce Load on Students

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) launched a review of syllabus and textbooks for schools to reduce the curriculum load on children from the next academic year to ensure that they make a "speedy recovery" in learning, which has been hit by Covid disruptions.
NCERT director in-charge Sridhar Srivastava wrote to the heads of departments of the Council to carry out the review by involving internal and external experts — and propose the changes by December 28.

Delhi Police Launches E-learning Platform "Unnati"

Police Commissioner of Delhi, Rakesh Asthana launched an e-learning platform 'Unnati', under the Delhi Police's flagship scheme 'YUVA' at the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Auditorium, New Delhi. Every year, over 1.5 lakh people are arrested by the Delhi Police for various crimes. More than 85 per cent of them are first-timers and only 10-15 per cent are repeat offenders.
Unnati is an e-learning and certification initiative by the Delhi Police-South West District to help educate youths and impart skill training to school dropouts from the weaker sections of society.
The courses offered under 'Unnati' include digital literacy courses comprising basic computer courses and typing training, preparatory courses for competitive exams and sports courses, among others.

CBSE Discontinues Same Day Physical Evaluation of Class 10, 12 Term-1 OMR Answer Sheets

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decided to stop the physical evaluation of OMR answer sheets at the exam centres on the day of the test itself for the ongoing classes 10 and 12 board examinations with immediate effect.
The board did not cite any reason for the sudden change in norms when the exams are underway.
Until now, the OMR answer sheets were first physically evaluated at the exam centre by school teachers and then sent for a digital evaluation. However, the board has now asked for physical evaluation to be stopped for the remaining exams that will go on till 30 December.

Global Health Security Index 2021

As per the Global Health Security (GHS) Index 2021, the world's average overall GHS Index score was reduced to 38.9 (out of 100) in 2021, from a score of 40.2 in the GHS Index, 2019. GHS Index is developed in partnership with the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
India ranked 66 out of 195 countries with an overall Index score of 42.8 and along with a change of -0.8 from 2019. The United States of America (USA) ranked 1st on the index with a score of 75.9 followed by Australia and Finland.
