Delhi University to Launch Unique Scheme called 'Competence Enhancement Scheme'
The University of Delhi, in its Centenary Year, is going to launch a unique scheme called the Competence Enhancement Scheme (CES). Along with implementing the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) from the academic year 2022-23.
This scheme also got approval at the academic council meeting of the university. The scheme will be launched early next year (2023) as a part of the Centenary celebrations of the university.
The 'Competition Enhancement Scheme' is a scheme that gives an opportunity to individuals from different fields to study at DU to enhance their knowledge and understanding of any subject being taught at Delhi University.

Delhi Govt, Burlington English India Sign MoU to Improve English Language Skills
The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Burlington English, a leading global provider of English language learning solutions. As a result of the partnership, students would be provided support to develop global competencies in the English language, thereby making them confident & future ready.
The programme named as "Innovation in Communication" will focus on strengthening the schools' efforts to develop an immersive English language learning environment by also building the capacity of the respective school teachers through digital and offline interventions.

CUET-UG: Second Shift Exam Cancelled across Country Due to Tech Glitches
The second phase of Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG had a bad start with technical glitches and administrative issues forcing the NTA to cancel second shift exam across all 489 centres and postpone first shift at some locations in 17 states.
Due to various administrative and technical reasons, the CUET (UG) 2022 scheduled for August 4 (first shift) was postponed to August 12 for a few examination centres in 17 states.

Govt. to Launch Gatishakti University
To handle the "complex system of transport sector", the Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw announced setting-up of Gatishakti University for technicality, engineering and finance education of railways, metro, highways and ports.
The university will focus on five areas including transport-based courses, skill development, applied research, technology development, and transport economics.
IIT Kanpur Signs MoU with NPCI to Develop Secure Digital Payment Solutions
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for sharing knowledge on innovative ideas and to collaborate on the development of indigenous digital payments solutions.
The collaboration will also help in the augmentation of cybersecurity controls for NPCI and its subsidiaries' products and services. The MoU will precipitate a wide array of collaborative efforts between NPCI and IIT Kanpur.
With this collaboration, eminent faculty members from IIT Kanpur will conduct deep informative sessions and deliver lectures for NPCI personnel on cybersecurity and the new trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), security product roadmaps, and Distributed ledger technologies (DLT).
NPCI, on the other hand, will offer internship opportunities to IIT Kanpur students, providing them an invaluable experience of working on live projects of NPCI.

Gujarat Govt. Announces 589 Vocational Schools to Offer 13 New Skills
The Gujarat education department announced 589 new government and grant-in-aid secondary and higher secondary vocational schools that will offer 13 new vocational skills to students. These schools are expected to start admissions in September-October this year.
Aimed at increasing professional knowledge among students and opportunities towards vocational skills, these new 589 schools, majorly in Gujarati medium, were approved by Government of India's Samagra Shiksha under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The 13 new vocational trades include agriculture, apparel, made ups and home furnishings, automotive, beauty and wellness, BFSI, electronics, food processing, IT/ITES, plumber, retail, sports, physical education, fitness and leisure, tourism and hospitality and health care.
In a First, IIT-B Alumnus to Head Institute's Board of Governors
An IIT-Bombay alumnus was appointed as the Chairperson of the institute's Board of Governors (BoG). Dr. Sharad Kumar Saraf, an alumnus of IIT-B, Electrical Engineering, 1969 batch, has been a member of the IIT-B BoG for the past four years. He is also serving as the Chairperson of the BoG at IIT-Jammu.
Saraf is currently the Chairman and Managing Director of Technocraft Industries India Ltd., which he co-founded in 1972 with his brother Sudarshan, another IIT-B alumnus.
He succeeded Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairperson of INSPACe – Department of Space, Government of India.
