Enactus Jamia Millia Islamia Wins Confluence on Entrepreneurship 2020
Team Enactus Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) was declared the winner at Confluence on Entrepreneurship 2020 organised by Tata Institute Of Social Sciences, Tuljapur on 30th December, 2020.
The confluence had witnessed participation of teams from all over India. The primary objective of the event was to promote enterprise development as an opportunity of livelihood in post-pandemic conditions with the emergence of business models/ approaches to mitigate/ alternatives to counter the ongoing political and economic changes.
The team, awarded with a Certificate of Excellence and mentorship sessions, had proposed its project Shrimati which had managed to garner wide appreciation by the members of the confluence board as well as the participants of the event.
Through Shrimati, Enactus JMI endeavours to tackle the issues of unemployment, domestic abuse, plastic pollution as well as sanitary waste disposal. For the same project, the team had earlier secured first runner-up position in another similar event hosted by Azim Premji University on 19th December, 2020.

V. K. Yadav Conferred with Eminent Engineer Award
The chairman & CEO of Railway Board, Vinod Kumar Yadav was conferred with the prestigious "Eminent Engineer Award for the Year 2020'. This award is given by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) for his outstanding contribution towards modernisation and reforms over Indian Railways.
Every year Institution of Engineering and Technology, Delhi Local Network celebrates Engineers' Day on the 15th of September to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. On this occasion, besides technical activities, the Institution also presents the Eminent Engineer's Award to distinguished Engineering personalities for their outstanding services in the field of Engineering and technology.

Mother Teresa Memorial Awards for Social Justice 2020
Harmony Foundation hosted the Mother Teresa Memorial Awards for Social Justice. The Awards in its 16th year is the only award endorsed by Sister Prema, the Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity, the organisation started by Mother Teresa. The theme for this year's awards was, 'Celebrating Compassion In Times Of Covid'.
Following are the awardees: Dr. Anthony Fauci, Father Fabio Stevenazzi, Dr Pradeep Kumar, IPS Sanjay Pandey, Vikas Khanna and K. K. Shailaja.

Indian Railways Awards 'Regular Supplier' Status to JSPL for Special Grade Rails
Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) received the 'regular rail supplier' status from the Indian Railways.
JSPL became the first private company in India to be awarded the 'regular supplier' status from the national transporter.
JSPL becomes India's first private company to get 'regular supplier' status from Indian Railways to supply 60 kg 880 grade (90UTS) rails.
The Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), which works under the ambit of the Railway board, has approved field performance of 60 kg 880 Grade (90 UTS) rails made by JSPL at its Raigarh plant.

President Confers Digital India Awards
President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Digital India 2020 awards via video conferencing. He stated that the Digital India Awards reflect the overall vision of the government to empower citizens to achieve their aspirations and make India a digital superpower.
While appreciating the digital inclusion during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the country, he said that due to proactive digital interventions, people have been able to ensure operational continuity of important government services during and after the lockdown, equally importantly, they have helped in pandemic management too.
