Finance Ministers Awards Best Performing PSBs

  • Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the fourth edition of the Public Sector Bank (PSB) Reforms Agenda 'EASE 4.0' for 2021-22 – tech-enabled, simplified, and collaborative banking.
  • She unveiled the annual report for the PSB Reforms Agenda EASE 3.0 for 2020-21 and participated in the awards ceremony to felicitate best performing banks on EASE 3.0 Banking Reforms Index.
  • Pankaj Jain, Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Amit Agrawal, Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services & Chairman IBA, Rajkiran Rai G. were also present at the event.
  • State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Union Bank of India won the awards for best performing banks for PSB Reforms EASE 3.0 based on the EASE index.
  • Indian Bank won the award for the best improvement from the baseline performance. SBI, BoB, Union Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Canara Bank won the top awards in different themes of the PSB Reforms Agenda EASE 3.0.

Dame Jocelyn Bell-Burnell: Awarded Royal Society's Highest Prize

  • A leading astrophysicist from Northern Ireland has been awarded the world's oldest scientific prize for her work on the discovery of pulsars.
  • Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell is only the second woman to be awarded the Royal Society's highest prize, the Copley Medal.
  • The medal is awarded for outstanding achievements in scientific research.
  • In 1967, when she was a 24-year-old student, she was part of a team that discovered the new type of star.
  • Pulsars are rapidly spinning neutron stars, so named because they appear to pulsate when viewed from Earth.
  • At the time she was overlooked for a Nobel Prize in favour of her male collaborators, although she has argued the prize was awarded appropriately at the time due to her student status.

Maharashtra Teacher Awarded For Introducing "Jungle Batches"

  • A Maharashtra instructor, Khurshid Sheikh, has been conferred with the Nationwide Academics Award 2021 for going past his name of obligation and making studying enjoyable and simple. When Covid and its related lockdown have made instructing and studying go browsing, this Maharashtra instructor took training to the remotest hamlet of Gadchiroli. Mr. Sheikh is an instructor at Asaralli ZP Higher Main College Sironcha.
  • The Maharashtra instructor travelled difficult terrains, used loud audio system, projectors and puppet exhibits to storify training. Mr Sheikh additionally launched "Jungle Batches" and Jollywood — making quick movies to make studying fascinating.

National Teacher Award 2021

  • The names for the National Teacher Award 2021 were announced and Bhuj teacher Ashok Kumar Mohanlal Parmar who painted and covered his school walls with colourful posters and informative bulletins is one of the recipients for his unique contribution to education.
  • The teacher of Hiten Dholakiya Vidyalay, Bhuj, Kachchh, Gujarat, has had a wonderful academic career. The way he transformed his school has made his students more interested in learning.
  • He placed informative posters and banners all around the walls. The paintings on the school walls have detailed information about great personalities of India and their lives, as well as about their important contribution to the country.

Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Awards 2021

  • The Family Man 2 actors Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha Akkineni were among the winners of the latest edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Awards. The IFFM 2021 were held virtually with several stars from various film industries in attendance. Eminent Indian artists like Shoojit Sircar, Anurag Kashyap, Thiagarajan Kumararaja, Sriram Raghavan were amongst the presenters, along with Richa Chadha, Guneet Monga, Onir and others as jury members.
