India Pharma and India Medical Devices Awards 2022
The India Pharma Awards 2022 and India Medical Device Awards 2022 were handed over by the Minister of State for the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers Bhagwanth Khuba. The awards were handed over during the seventh edition of India Pharma and Indian Medical Device 2022 which was organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Department of Pharmaceuticals.
The awards were given to various industry players in the field of medical and pharmaceutical devices.

Snow Leopard Conservationist Charudutt Mishra Wins Whitley Gold Award
Noted snow leopard expert and wildlife conservationist Charudutt Mishra won the prestigious Whitley Gold Award for his contribution to involving indigenous communities in the conservation and recovery of big cat species in Asia's high mountain ecosystems. Princess Anne presented the award to Mishra at London's Royal Geographic Society. This is his second Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN) Award. He got the first in 2005.
Mishra was given the award for his work in 12 snow leopard range countries including Afghanistan, China, and Russia. In 2017, Mishra wrote a paper on eight approaches to community-based conservation that helped involve local communities in snow leopard protection in the upper reaches of the Himalayas, leading to a reduction in retribution killings of the big cats. UN Biodiversity Conference recognised his approach as an outstanding global practice.

Atal Tunnel Receives IBC Best Infrastructure Project Award
The Atal Tunnel, built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), received the 'Best Infrastructure Project' award from the Indian Building Congress (IBC). The 9.02 km-long Atal Tunnel is the longest highway tunnel globally and connects Manali to Lahaul-Spiti valley throughout the year. Earlier, the valley was cut off for about six months each year owing to heavy snowfall.
More than thirty state-of-the-art infrastructure projects were nominated for the award. The IBC jury selected the strategic tunnel as the 'Best Project for Excellence in Built Environment' in 2021.

Meghalaya E-proposal System Wins Prestigious UN Award
Meghalaya's Planning Department's key initiative of e-Proposal System, part of Meghalaya Enterprise Architecture (MeghEA) wins coveted UN Award – World Summit on the Information Society Forum (WSIS) Prizes 2022. CM Conrad K Sangma in 2019 initiated MeghEA, which is being implemented by the Planning Department, Government of Meghalaya.
The government's e-Proposal system automates sanctions & administrative approvals of all the departments & directorates in Meghalaya and delivers Government services with desired outcomes to all the citizens and other stakeholders across the State of Meghalaya in an integrated and seamless manner. It eliminates 75% of physical files in Government departments.

Bangladesh Educational Charity Founder Kishore Das Selected for Commonwealth Points of Light Award
The founder of educational charity 'Bidyanando', Kishore Kumar Das from Bangladesh was chosen for the Commonwealth Points of Light Award, which recognises outstanding individual volunteers. He has been selected for his exceptional work in improving access to education for children from marginalised backgrounds.
Kishore Das setup Bidyanando in 2013, which runs five primary schools which provide free education and meal programme for vulnerable.

Ukrainian Prez Zelenskyy Gets John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for Protecting Democracy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is among five people named as recipients of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for acting to protect democracy. The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation said that he was chosen because of the way he has "marshaled the spirit, patriotism and untiring sacrifice of the Ukrainian people in a life-or-death fight for their country.
Four U.S. officials were chosen for standing up for free and fair elections, as the system was challenged in ways it has never been before. They are Republican U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, and Fulton County, Georgia, elections worker Wandrea "Shaye" Moss.
NMDC Conferred at PRSI Awards 2022
The National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (NMDC), sweeped the Public Relations Awards 2022 conferred by Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), winning the first position in four categories. The mining major was conferred with this honour for their Corporate Website, Annual Report, Layout and Design of Newsletter, and CSR Corporate Video.
The Telangana State Minister Shri V Srinivas Goud lauded the efforts of the PR industry in building an informed society and congratulated the winners. Celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the PRSI Hyderabad Chapter, the conference hosted interactive and insightful sessions on the theme of 'Emerging Trends in Modern Public Relations'.
UN Names David Attenborough 'Champion Of The Earth'
In honour of David Attenborough's dedication to research, documentation, and advocacy in protecting and restoring nature, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) awarded him prestigious Champions of the Earth Lifetime Achievement Award.
The prestigious award recognises the 95-year-old's commitment to telling stories about the natural world and climate change. Accepting the award, Sir David said the world must take action now to protect nature and the planet. His celebrated documentaries include The Green Planet and A Plastic Ocean.
This Lifetime Achievement Award is given in a historic year for the global environmental community – 2022 marks 50 years since the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, Sweden.
