Anjali Pandey Bags the CII EXCON Committed Leader Award
Anjali Pandey, Engines and Components Business Unit Leader at Cummins India was awarded with the Committed Leader Award at CII EXCON 2022 in Bengaluru for her efforts to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.

WHO Honours India's ASHA Volunteers
India's one million all-women ASHA volunteers were honoured by the World Health Organisation for their "crucial role" in providing direct access to healthcare facilities in rural areas and their indefatigable efforts to rein in the coronavirus pandemic in the country. Accredited Social Health Activists - or ASHA volunteers - are Indian government's affiliated health workers who are the first point of contact in rural India
Most of them gained spotlight during the peak of the pandemic in India for conducting door-to-door checks to trace coronavirus patients.
ASHA volunteers have also worked to provide maternal care and immunisation for children against vaccine-preventable diseases; community health care; treatment for hypertension and tuberculosis; and core areas of health promotion for nutrition, sanitation and healthy living.

Wesley Morgan Wins Colby Award for 'The Hardest Place'
Author and journalist Wesley Morgan was the 2022 winner of the William E. Colby Award for military and intelligence writing. He was cited for his book The Hardest Place: The American Military Adrift in Afghanistan's Pech Valley. The Colby award, a $5,000 prize named for the former ambassador and CIA director, is given for "a major contribution to the understanding of military history, intelligence operations or international affairs."
Morgan was still a college student when he began embedding with military units in Afghanistan, more than a decade ago. He has since reported on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq for The New York Times, the Washington Post and other outlets. The Colby Award is presented by Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont. Previous winners include Dexter Filkins, Karl Marlantes and Adam Higginbotham.

Ajay Piramal Receives Order of the British Empire Award
Chairman of the Piramal Group, Ajay Piramal received an honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Her Majesty The Queen. He received the award for services to the UK-India trade relationship as India Co-Chair of the UK-India CEO Forum. As co-chair of the India-UK CEO forum since 2016, the endeavour has been to help strengthen the strong bilateral relations between the two countries through greater economic cooperation.
Honorary Commander of The Order of The British Empire is given to person with prominent national role of a lesser degree, a conspicuous leading role in regional affairs through achievement or service to the community, or a highly distinguished, innovative contribution in his or her area of activity. The award was Instituted in 1917 by King George V.

Ukrainian Band 'Kalush Orchestra' Wins 2022 Eurovision amid War
Ukrainian band 'Kalush Orchestra' won the Eurovision song contest in a clear show of popular support for the war-ravaged nation that went beyond music. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed the victory, Ukraine's third since its 2003 Eurovision debut, and said "we will do our best" to host next year's contest in the hotly contested port city of Mariupol.
Kalush Orchestra's front man, Oleh Psiuk, took advantage of the enormous global audience, last year numbering more than 180 million, to make impassioned plea to free fighters still trapped beneath a sprawling steel plant in Mariupol following their performance.
Kalush Orchestra's song, "Stefania", was sentimental and bookmakers' favorite among the 25 competing performers in the grand finale. The public vote from home, via text message or the Eurovision app, proved decisive, lifting them above British Tik Tok star Sam Ryder, who led after the national juries in 40 countries cast their votes.
Drake Wins Billboard Music Awards 2022 in Top Artist Category
The Billboard Music Awards 2022 opened to performances by a couple of controversial singers and some expected wins. Drake was named top artist, male artist, rap artist, rap male artist and rap album for Certified Lover Boy. The rapper extended his record as the most decorated winner in the history of the awards show with 34 wins.
Olivia Rodrigo and Kanye West, known as Ye, took home the most awards with six during a non-televised ceremony. Rodrigo was awarded best new artist. Doja Cat came away with four awards. She won top R&B artist and R&B female artist for the second consecutive year, along with top R&B album and female artist.
