Former RBI Deputy Governor KC Chakrabarty Passes Away
Former deputy governor of Reserve Bank KC Chakrabarty passed away following a heart attack. He was 68.
After his stint at state-run lenders like Bank of Baroda, Indian Bank and Punjab National Bank, the outspoken Chakrabarty had joined the RBI as a DG in 2009 and resigned in 2014, three months before his term ended.
Before banking, Chakrabarty had taught at Banaras Hindu University before entering commercial banking.

Harsh Mariwala is the EY Entrepreneur of the Year
Business leader Harsh Mariwala is the EY Entrepreneur for 2020. Mariwala, chairman of the fast moving consumer goods firm Marico, will represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award in June.
Prathap Chandra Reddy, founder and executive chairman of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. was given the lifetime achievement award, while EY announced eight other winners in multiple categories. Byju Raveendran, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Think & Learn, better known as BYJU's, was awarded for "business transformation". Peyush Bansal, founder and CEO of Lenskart Solutions, was awarded in the start-up category. Ameera Shah, managing director of Metropolis Healthcare, won in life science and healthcare.
Suresh Narayanan, chairman and managing director of Nestle India, got the entrepreneur CEO award. Sushil Kumar Agarwal, managing director (MD) & CEO of Aavas Financiers, won in the financial service category.

'Gentleman Judge' Nijjar Passes Away
A gentleman never judges is one idiom that didn't fit Justice Surinder Singh Nijjar at all. For, he was a gentleman and a Judge too. The former SC Judge, who passed away at PGIMER here this morning following cardiac arrest at the age of 71, would always be remembered not just for his judgments, but also his etiquettes—both inside and outside the courtroom.

Hollywood Actor George Segal Dies
George Segal, the Oscar-nominated actor who sparred with Richard Burton in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, romanced Glenda Jackson in A Touch of Class and won laughs in the TV sitcom The Goldbergs, died at the age of 87.
Segal's acting career began on the New York stage and television in the early 1960s. He quickly moved into films, playing an artist in the star-studded ensemble drama Ship of Fools and a scheming, wily American corporal in a World War Two prisoner-of-war camp in King Rat in 1965.

Pharma major Cipla's board has approved the re-appointment of Umang Vohra as the Managing Director and Global CEO of the company for a further period of five years.
The board of directors has considered and approved the re-appointment of Umang Vohra, Managing Director, designated as 'Managing Director and Global Chief Executive Officer' of the company, for a further period of five years w.e.f. April 1, 2021 to March 31,2026.
Vohra had joined Cipla in 2015 and has been the MD & Global CEO of the company since September 1, 2016.

Jeh Wadia Steps Down as GoAir MD
Wadia group scion Jeh Wadia stepped down as Managing Director of GoAir.
The airline appointed Ben Baldanza, former CEO of Spirit Airlines, its vice-chairman.
Wadia will, however, continue on the airline's board.
GoAir is planning an initial public offering (IPO) and said the steps are part of its efforts to strengthen the management of the company by bringing on board proven industry professionals, a strategy that has worked well for the Wadia group in its other ventures, including Britannia.
Baldanza, who has been part of the airline's board since 2018, is famous for reducing operating cost of Spirit Airlines and has worked at American Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines among others.
