Karnataka Clinches Vijay Hazare Trophy for Record 5th Time

In the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2024-25 final, Karnataka emerged victorious by 36 runs against Vidarbha at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. This win marks Karnataka's fifth Vijay Hazare Trophy title. The thrilling encounter saw Karnataka posting a commanding total and defending it successfully, despite a spirited fight from Vidarbha's batters.
Karnataka's fifth Vijay Hazare Trophy title comes after previous wins in 2013-14, 2014-15, 2017-18, and 2019-20. The team has established a strong legacy in domestic cricket, becoming one of the most successful teams in the competition's history.

IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant Lucknow Super Giants' New skipper

Rishabh Pant was announced as Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) new skipper for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Rishabh Pant was bagged by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs. 27 crore after a ferocious bidding war at the IPL auction.
Pant made his IPL debut in 2016 for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), and has been part of the team since, before being elevated as captain in 2021.

Viktor Axelsen and An Se-Young registered comprehensive one-sided wins and clinched men's and women's India Open badminton, respectively.
While Axelsen sent last year's runner-up Cheuk Yiu Lee of Singapore packing 21-16, 21-8 for his third title in the tournament in six finals over 10 years, equalling Malaysian legend Lee Chong Wei for the most titles, An defeated Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-12, 21-9 for her second after 2023.

In a masterclass of speed, strategy, and skill, the Indian women's kho kho team scripted history by clinching the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025 title at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. Star Australia all-rounder Annabel Sutherland was named the ICC Women's Player of the Month for December 2024.
Annabel Sutherland shone brightly for Australia in December 2024, playing a pivotal role as her team remained unbeaten across five ODIs – three against India and two against New Zealand. Her exceptional performances earned her three Player of the Match awards and the Player of the Series title for both series.
Sutherland beat the other nominees - India's Smriti Mandhana and South Africa's Nonkululeko Mlaba.

Mansukh Mandaviya Chairs First-ever CSR Round Table for Sports Development

In a groundbreaking initiative to propel India into the top ranks of global sports by 2036, Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, convened the first-ever corporate round-table in New Delhi.
Mandaviya emphasised a vision to position India among the top five global sports performers by 2047, the 100th year of India's independence. Aiming to bridge the gap between aspirations and execution, he stressed the critical role of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in building sustainable sports infrastructure and talent development programs. He also proposed that PSUs should support state-level requirements to achieve sporting excellence.

WPL 2025: Baroda, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Mumbai set to Host 3rd Edition of League

The third edition of Women's Premier League (WPL) will expand to 4 cities this year with Baroda, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai set to play host to the 5 teams, the BCCI announced.
The tournament will kick off at the newly built BCA Stadium in Baroda where the Gujarat Giants (GG) will square off against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The tournament will be held from February 14 to 15 March 15, 2025.

Bumrah is ICC Men's Player of Month for December 2024

Indian pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah was named the ICC Men's Player of the Month for December 2024, following a string of extraordinary performances during India's tour of Australia. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the accolade, recognizing Bumrah's dominance over world-class opposition.
Bumrah edged out tough competition from Australia's Pat Cummins and South Africa's Dane Paterson to claim the award. Over three gruelling Test matches, Bumrah spearheaded India's bowling attack, scalping an impressive 22 wickets at an exceptional average of 14.22, reaffirming his stature as one of the finest bowlers in world cricket.

Casey Stoney New Head Coach of Canada Women's National Soccer Team

Canada Women's National Soccer Team (CANWNT) appointed Casey Stoney as its new head coach.
The former San Diego Wave manager was relieved of her role in June 2024, originally joining in 2021 after three years with Manchester United.
