Indian Shuttler B. Sai Praneeth Retires from International Badminton

World Championships bronze medallist B. Sai Praneeth announced his retirement from international badminton, bringing down curtains on a successful career during which he won the Singapore Open and also represented India at the Tokyo Olympics. Sai from Hyderabad decided to hang his boost after battling nagging injuries since the Tokyo Games.
Praneeth will begin a new innings now as he is set to join as a head coach of Triangle Badminton Academy in USA.
In over a two-decade long international career, Praneeth had some fine moments but the 2017 Singapore Open Super Series win and the bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships in Basel, Switzerland were his crowning moment.

Shabnim Ismail Records Fastest Ball in Women's Cricket

Mumbai Indians pacer Shabnim Ismail recorded the fastest ball in recorded women's cricket, having breached the 130 kph barrier during the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) match against Delhi Capitals in Delhi. Ismail delivered a 132.1 kph delivery as per the speed-gun on broadcast.
The South Africa pacer also holds the record for the fastest deliveries bowled in international women's cricket, having touched 128 kph against West Indies in 2016.
Ismail retired from international cricket in May 2023 shortly after the T20 World Cup at home, marking an end to a career spanning 16 yeards. She appeared for the Proteas in 241 internationals, picking up 317 wickets across formats. She remains as the second-highest wicket-take in women's ODIs (191) while leading the charts for South Africa in T20Is (123).

Devynne Charlton Creates New 60m Hurdles World Record

Devynne Charlton blazed to a world record in the women's 60 metres hurdles while pole vaulter Armand Duplantis pulled a remarkable performance out of what had been an off-night and won gold at the world indoor athletics championships in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Charlton, from the Bahamas, clocked 7.65 seconds to shave two-hundredths of a second off the previous record she had shared with American Tia Jones.

Rajasthan Royals Appoints Saudi's NEOM as Main Partner in a Two-year Deal

Rajasthan Royals entered into a partnership with Saudi Arabia's smart city project NEOM, appointing it as the principal partner in a key two-year deal.
Under the terms of the agreement, Rajasthan Royals will sport NEOM's corporate brand logo on the chest of all official team clothing during India's premier T20 cricket league in 2024 and 2025, thereby imprinting further awareness of NEOM on a wide global audience.
NEOM, being built in the north-western Tabuk Province of Saudi, is boasted as a sustainably planned urban development initiative. The project is aimed at turning into an economic engine for the nation, driving business prospects, fostering innovation, and enhancing the overall quality of life for its residents.
Through the partnership, NEOM aims to create cricket opportunities with the help of Rajasthan Royals and the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation. As part of the deal, NEOM aims to leverage knowledge transfer opportunities, including cricket leadership training and an accredited program for developing coaches within the NEOM workforce.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Name Pat Cummins Skipper

Australia's World Cup-winning skipper Pat Cummins was named captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2024 Indian Premier League season, becoming the fourth player to be handed the responsibility in the last three years.
He was bought by SRH for a whopping Rs. 20.50 crore in the IPL auctions in December 2023, making him the second costliest player in the event's history.
He replaced South African Aiden Markram, who led SRH in the 2023 season.

De Minaur Beats Rudd to Defend Title

Alex De Minaur beat Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-4 and became the first player to win back-to-back titles in the Mexican Open since 2012. The third-seeded De Minaur won his eighth ATP title and became the fourth player to repeat as champion in Mexico, the first since David Ferrer in 2010-12.
The Mexican Open is a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts, and usually held annually in late February and early March at the Arena GNP Seguros since 2022 and previously at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess, both in Acapulco, Mexico. It was played on outdoor red clay courts until 2013. The change to hard courts was introduced in 2014. The Mexican Open is part of the ATP Tour 500 series on the ATP Tour, and until 2020 was one of the WTA International tournaments on the WTA Tour.

Saudi Arabia Ready to Host 2034 FIFA World Cup

Saudi Arabia could soon become the fourth Asian country to host the FIFA World Cup after the nation officially launched its bid. Saudi Arabia is now the front-runner to secure the rights to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup after FIFA had earlier announced them as the only candidate. The bid was made officially under the campaign slogan 'Growing. Together' as Saudi Arabia intends to replicate its gulf neighbour Qatar, which hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Puneri Paltan defeated a young and resilient Haryana Steelers and lifted their first-ever Pro Kabaddi League trophy, becoming the sixth team ever to win the world's biggest kabaddi league.

Lucknow Super Giants Hire Lance Klusener as Assistant Coach

Lucknow Super Giants signed former South African all-rounder Lance Klusener as their assistant coach for the 2024 Indian Premier League.
He teamed up with head coach Justin Langer and fellow assistant coach S. Sriram.
LSG reached the IPL playoffs in both the seasons they have featured in since their inception in 2022. However, on both occasions, they were ousted in the eliminator.
Klusener is also the head coach of LSG's South African franchise, the Durban's Super Giants.
Klusener has coached various teams across the world, including being the consultant coach for the Delhi and Tripura domestic sides.
