Dipa Karmakar scripted history clinching India's first-ever gold medal at the Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 30-year-old Olympian registered an average score of 13.566 in the women's Vault final.
This is the first time that an Indian gymnast has won a gold medal in any event at the Asian Championships.
Dipa's already outstanding list of firsts for Indian gymnastics is enhanced by the vault gold. She is the first female gymnast from India to compete in the Olympics, and at Rio 2016, she put on the best performance of any gymnast competing in the Summer Games, placing fourth in the women's vault. She also became the first Indian to ever win a gold medal at an international gymnastics competition when she won the women's vault gold medal at the 2018 FIG World Cup in Mersin, Turkey.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced the launch of 'Let's Move India', an initiative to inspire people to celebrate the athletes participating in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. The move invites people from across the country to join the movement through a digital challenge on social media.
According to a press release, young people can take part in a series of regional school initiatives to coincide with Olympic Day on June 23. Starting today, people are encouraged to recreate their favourite athlete celebrations or create their own, aiming to inspire and celebrate the Olympians heading to Paris 2024.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik played his final IPL game in the eliminator loss against Rajasthan Royals.
Dinesh Karthik, an accomplished Indian cricketer, debuted internationally in 2004 and has played over 300 T20 matches.
Karthik served as captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders between 2018 & 2020 and has also been a commentator for Sky Sports.

Indian Women's Compound Archery Team Strikes Gold, Mixed Team Bags Silver in World Cup
The Indian women's compound trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur and Aditi Swami grabbed their third successive Archery World Cup gold medal, while the mixed team added a silver at the stage two event in Yecheon (South Korea). The world number one Indian compound women's team dominated Turkey's Hazal Burun, Ayse Bera Suzer and Begum Yuva right from the first end and sealed the gold without dropping a set, maintaining a healthy six-point margin (232-226) in a lopsided final.
Asian Games champion Jyothi, however, failed to add a second gold to her kitty as she along with Priyansh squandered an opening round lead to go down to the USA's Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan by two points (155-153) in the compound mixed team final.

PV Sindhu Enters Semifinals of Malaysia Masters Badminton Tournament
In Badminton, PV Sindhu stormed into the Women's Singles semifinals of Malaysia Masters in Kuala Lumpur today morning. The two-time Olympic medalist defeated Han Yue of China, 21-13, 14-21, 21-12 in the quarter-final.
However, in another women's singles quarter final, Ashmita Chaliha of India bowed out losing to Zhang Yi Man of China, 10-21, 15-21.
In other categories, India's campaign has already ended in the Round of 16. Kiran George lost to Malaysia's Zii Jia Lee in Men's Singles, while in the Men's Doubles, Sai Pratheek and Krishna Prasad Garaga also lost to Chinese pair of Ren Xiangyu and Ji Ting He. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand were defeated by Sung Shuo-yun and Chen Yu of Taiwan in Women's Doubles.
