India's Simran Sharma Wins Gold Medal at World Para Athletics Championship in Kobe, Japan

India's Simran Sharma has won a Gold medal in the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan. Simran clinched the gold in the women's 200m T12 event, achieving a personal best time of 24.95 seconds on the competition's final day yesterday.
India concluded their World Para Athletics Championships journey with remarkable achievements, securing a total of 17 medals, including six golds, propelling them to the sixth position in the standings.
Delhi's sprinter Simran Sharma elevated India's medal tally by claiming the country's sixth gold yesterday. Her remarkable performance saw her improve upon her previous personal best of 25.16 seconds, securing the gold medal.

Dipa Karmakar Clinches India's First-Ever Gold Medal in Women's Pole-Vault at Asian Championships...

Dipa Karmakar scripted history clinching India's first-ever gold medal at the Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 30-year-old Olympian registered an average score of 13.566 in the women's Vault final.
This is the first time that an Indian gymnast has won a gold medal in any event at the Asian Championships.
Dipa's already outstanding list of firsts for Indian gymnastics is enhanced by the vault gold. She is the first female gymnast from India to compete in the Olympics, and at Rio 2016, she put on the best performance of any gymnast competing in the Summer Games, placing fourth in the women's vault. She also became the first Indian to ever win a gold medal at an international gymnastics competition when she won the women's vault gold medal at the 2018 FIG World Cup in Mersin, Turkey.

Kolkata Knight Riders Win IPL 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) etched their name in the annals of IPL history by clinching their third title after a resounding eight-wicket victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final of the IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The triumphant Knights, led by the astute captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, showcased their dominance throughout the tournament, culminating in a comprehensive triumph over SRH in the summit clash.
The final witnessed a batting collapse of epic proportions from the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were bundled out for a paltry 113 runs in just 18.3 overs. This lowest score in an IPL final set the stage for a straightforward chase for the Knights, who had previously defeated SRH twice in the league stage.

IOC launches 'Let's Move India' Campaign to Inspire People to Celebrate Athletes at Paris Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced the launch of 'Let's Move India', an initiative to inspire people to celebrate the athletes participating in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. The move invites people from across the country to join the movement through a digital challenge on social media.
According to a press release, young people can take part in a series of regional school initiatives to coincide with Olympic Day on June 23. Starting today, people are encouraged to recreate their favourite athlete celebrations or create their own, aiming to inspire and celebrate the Olympians heading to Paris 2024.

Dinesh Kartik Announced Retirement from IPL

Royal Challengers Bengaluru wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik played his final IPL game in the eliminator loss against Rajasthan Royals.
Dinesh Karthik, an accomplished Indian cricketer, debuted internationally in 2004 and has played over 300 T20 matches.
Karthik served as captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders between 2018 & 2020 and has also been a commentator for Sky Sports.

Indian Women's Compound Archery Team Strikes Gold, Mixed Team Bags Silver in World Cup

The Indian women's compound trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur and Aditi Swami grabbed their third successive Archery World Cup gold medal, while the mixed team added a silver at the stage two event in Yecheon (South Korea). The world number one Indian compound women's team dominated Turkey's Hazal Burun, Ayse Bera Suzer and Begum Yuva right from the first end and sealed the gold without dropping a set, maintaining a healthy six-point margin (232-226) in a lopsided final.
Asian Games champion Jyothi, however, failed to add a second gold to her kitty as she along with Priyansh squandered an opening round lead to go down to the USA's Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan by two points (155-153) in the compound mixed team final.

PV Sindhu Enters Semifinals of Malaysia Masters Badminton Tournament

In Badminton, PV Sindhu stormed into the Women's Singles semifinals of Malaysia Masters in Kuala Lumpur today morning. The two-time Olympic medalist defeated Han Yue of China, 21-13, 14-21, 21-12 in the quarter-final.
However, in another women's singles quarter final, Ashmita Chaliha of India bowed out losing to Zhang Yi Man of China, 10-21, 15-21.
In other categories, India's campaign has already ended in the Round of 16. Kiran George lost to Malaysia's Zii Jia Lee in Men's Singles, while in the Men's Doubles, Sai Pratheek and Krishna Prasad Garaga also lost to Chinese pair of Ren Xiangyu and Ji Ting He. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand were defeated by Sung Shuo-yun and Chen Yu of Taiwan in Women's Doubles.

Sachin Khilari Defends Gold at World Para Athletics, India Surpasses Best-ever Tally

India's Sachin Sarjerao Khilari defended his gold medal in the men's shot put F46 category with an Asian record at the World Para Athletics Championship as the country surpassed its best-ever haul in the global competition.
India, now have 11 medals, five of them gold. They bettered their previous best tally of 10 (3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze) in the 2023 edition in Paris.

Chandru G Wins WBC India Cruiserweight Championship

Chandru G from Tamil Nadu recently beat Jaskaran Singh from Punjab and won the WBC India National title in the Cruiserweight Division. At the Pro Boxing Fight Night in Hyderabad, the fight, which ended with a knockout in the fourth round, was the main event.

Virat Kohli Becomes First Batter to Reach 8000 Runs in IPL History

Virat Kohli broke yet another record in Indian Premier League (IPL) history as he became the first batter to score 8000 runs in the Eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals.
Kohli, who enjoyed his second-most prolific season in the league with over 700 runs after that iconic 2016 season where he scored 973, has scored one century and 5 fifties in the 2024 edition. His batting form is also one of the biggest reasons that RCB came back from the abyss to qualify from the play-offs and is also the current Orange Cap holder.

Archery World Cup: Compound Archers One Win Away from WC Stage II Glory

The world No. 1 Indian women's compound team stormed into the final of the archery World Cup Stage II in Yecheon, South Korea but the men's team will return empty-handed after losing the bronze medal clash to Australia.
The trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur and Aditi Swami, which had clinched gold medal in the World Cup Stage I in the Shanghai leg last month (April), knocked out world No. 4 USA 233-229 in their semi-final.
