Uttar Pradesh Defies Centre's Order, Opens Tiger Reserves to Public

  • The Uttar Pradesh Government commenced boating, safari and establishment of parks in the core zones of its tiger reserves despite Centre's order that called for the removal of all the tourism structures from the reserves.
  • In 2019, National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), a statutory authority under the Union environment ministry directed all the states to remove tourism structures from core tiger zones to protect tiger habitats. The order also stated that no new permanent tourist facilities in core areas of tiger reserves should be allowed. A core area of a tiger reserve is free from human interference and any activities like construction, eco-tourism facilities are banned.

Aman Sehrawat among Top Contenders as Bengaluru Gears up to Host Wrestling Nationals

  • Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat will headline a star-studded line-up as Bengaluru prepares to host the Senior National Wrestling Championship for the first time ever, from December 6 to 8.
  • Joining Aman on the mats will be U-20 World Wrestling Champion Antim Panghal, along with 2019 World Championship silver medal winner Deepak Punia, U23 world champion Reetika Hooda, Olympian Sonam Malik, Radhika, Manisha Bhanwala, Bipasha, Priya, Udit, Chirag, Sunil Kumar, and Narinder Cheema.
  • The event will be held at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium and the championship is expected to feature over 1000 participants and officials from across 25 affiliated state member units as well as Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) and Services Sports Promotion Board (SSPB).

Agarwal, who currently serves as the Senior Vice President of FICCI, is set to assume the role of President on November 21, 2024.
  • Harsha Vardhan Agarwal is a second-generation leader of Emami Group, a diversified business conglomerate with a valuation of USD 3.1 billion. He is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Emami Limited, a key FMCG business under the Emami Group.
