Anyone who has had to work or study or do anything in an institutional setting knows the absolute desolation that the prospect of a Monday brings. After Guinness World Records' move, all of that will no longer be smoothed over into a wishy-washy 'Monday blues' packet. It's real now. Going into Monday means you're going into the officially declared and universally accepted worst day of the week. Now you could blame your general grumpiness on it being Monday. It would be a concern only during the remaining six days of the week.
Liz Truss Resigns as UK Prime Minister
UK Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned, bringing an end to a controversial reign amid fallout over her ambitious tax cut policy.
Truss has been in office for just 44 days. Her resignation comes just a day after she had vowed to stay in power.

Global Youth Climate Summit 2022 Organised in Bangladesh
Youth from 70 countries participated in a Global Youth Climate Summit in Khulna, Bangladesh. The three day summit brought together 650 youth in a hybrid format with 150 youth participating in person and 500 online. The youth explored how they can lead the fight against climate change.
Elaborating the purpose of the summit, Ejaj Ahmad, the CEO of the Global Youth Leadership Centre (GYLC) which organised the programme, said that the GYLC was launched as a global organisation to mobilise youth especially from the Global South to tackle the climate crisis. The mission of GYLC is to expand youth's knowledge about climate science, equip them with leadership skills to take individual and collective action, and enable them to launch businesses that contribute to climate mitigation or adaptation.
The Global Youth Climate Summit brought together renowned climate scientists, policymakers, entrepreneurs, leadership experts, and youth climate activists.

India Post Payments Bank and Reserve Bank Innovation Hub joined hands to focus their efforts on enhancing the reach of financial solutions to large sections of society across India and enabling frictionless finance to a billion Indians. Under the arrangement India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) will plan, design and execute innovative products and offerings to bridge the existing gap by bringing digitalised services at the customer's doorstep.
The collaboration between IPPB and RBIH will explore projects which shall have impact on the masses by leveraging the deep rural reach of IPPB-Department of Posts (DoP) to take rural finance to a billion Indians.
Both entities will jointly work to enabling access to sustainable and secure finance services to every segment of the society, through research and innovation.
ISRO plans to launch Chandrayaan-3, its third mission to the moon, in June next year with a more robust lunar rover onboard which is crucial for future inter-planetary explorations. The space agency has also lined up the first test flight of the 'abort mission' for Gaganyaan, the country's first human spaceflight, early next year.
"Chandrayaan-3 (C-3) launch will be in June next year onboard the Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3)," said Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman S. Somnath. He said that ISRO plans to fly Indian astronauts into orbit by the end of 2024 after carrying out successful abort missions and uncrewed test flights.
India's maiden attempt to land a rover on the moon ended in failure after the Vikram lander onboard the Chandrayaan-2 mission crashed on the surface of the moon in September 2019.
Indian Junior Women's Team Wins 10m Air Pistol Gold Medal at ISSF
India's junior women's 10m air pistol team comprising Esha Singh, Shikha Narwal and Varsha Singh won gold medal at the ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Championship 2022 in Cairo, Egypt. The Indian women beat China's Zhao Nan, Wang Siyu and Shen Yiyao by a 16-6 score line in the gold medal match to clinch top podium finish. This was India's sixth gold medal at the ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Championship 2022, two of which came in the senior competitions while the remaining four were won by junior shooters. India are currently second on the ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Championship 2022 medals tally with 15 medals – six gold, three silver and six bronze. China top the list with 32 medals, which include 17 gold.
Ramita Jindal Wind Gold in 10 Meter Air Rifle Women Junior Event in Cairo
India's Ramita Jindal was crowned world champion in 10 meter Air Rifle Women Junior event at International Shooting Sport Federation, ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol in Cairo, Egypt; defeats China's Ying Shen 16-12.
Tied 12-12 in the gold match, Ramita shot 10.8 and 10.7 to secure the gold as the Chinese responded with 9.8 and 10.6. Ramita had topped the second stage of qualification after eventual bronze medallist, Tilottama Sen had topped qualification with 633.4.
Haryana Best-governed in Big States: Public Affairs Index 2022
Haryana emerged as the best-governed among 18 big states of the country, according to the Public Affairs Index (PAI) 2022 prepared by a Bengaluru-based think tank.
The state topped among the major states with a score of 0.6948, followed by Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Karnataka.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that this could become possible because of the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sikkim topped in the category of 10 smaller states. In PAI 2022, the analysis of governance experienced a shift from the framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to a constitutionally enshrined principle of justice.
Maharashtra CM Shinde Restores General Consent to CBI to Probe Cases
Reversing the decision of the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) dispensation, the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government restored the general consent given to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate cases in the state.
With the reversal of this decision, the CBI will no longer require permission of the state government to step in.
CM Shinde cleared the proposal of the home department headed by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to reverse the decision of MVA government.
On October 21, 2020, the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government had withdrawn the general consent to the CBI under the contention that the central government was misusing central probe agencies to settle political scores.
India Successfully Tests Next-gen Agni Ballistic Missile
India successfully test-fired 'Agni Prime', a new generation of ballistic missiles, from off the coast of Odisha. As per reports, all test objectives were met and the third consecutive (and successful) test of the 'Agni Prime' had 'established the accuracy and reliability of the system'.
Performance was validated using data obtained by many tracking systems, including radar, telemetry and electro-optical systems.
These systems were deployed at different locations along the flight path, including two down-range ships at the terminal point, and covered the entire trajectory.
The first test was in June 2021, with the second six months later in December. On both those occasions the missile 'followed textbook trajectory and met all mission objectives with a high level of accuracy.

Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (BBS) came up with a proposal to rediscover, reaffirm and celebrate the age-old links between the Tamil culture and Kashi that have existed for centuries.
During the Kashi Tamil Sangamam academic exchanges – seminars, discussions etc will be held between experts/ scholars on various facets of the two ancient manifestations of Indian Culture, with focus on bringing out the links and shared values between the two.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted Jeypore Airport the licence to carry out commercial flight operations under the regional connectivity scheme. The airport, 33 km northwest of Koraput town and 500 km southwest of Bhubaneswar, would boost tourism.
Jeypore Airport is located three kilometres north-west of the city of Jeypore in Odisha, India. The airstrip was constructed in 1962 along with the establishment of a Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) factory nearby at Sunabeda.
PMLA: Supreme Court Dismisses Petition for Reconsidering Verdict
The Supreme Court of India dismissed the petition for reconsideration of the July 27 verdict of upholding the validity of provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
A bench comprising the Chief Justice of India (CJI) U.U. Lalit and Justice Bela M. Trivedi dismissed the plea that challenged the Constitutional validity of Section 37 of the Act which stipulates the power of the Chairperson to transfer cases.
The CJI while speaking on the plea said it is misconceived. He further added that as soon as you have a problem with a provision you assail the act. It is not as if you face a trial. It is only a prima facie case.
