Ningol Chakouba 2025: Celebrating in Manipur

  • In Manipur, the festival of strengthening the bond of love between married ladies and their brothers, along with paternal families, Ningol Chakouba was celebrated. The festival is celebrated every year on the second day of Hiyangei month of the Meitei calendar. In this festival, the married ladies are invited to their paternal families for a feast to be had together with their brothers and other family members. After the feast, they are given gifts by their brothers. Ningol Chakouba is a Manipuri phrase meaning Ningol- married ladies and Chakouba- having a grand feast together.

First Ramayana Wax Museum Unveiled in Ayodhya

  • Ayodhya added another feather to its cap this Deepotsav, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurating the world's first Ramayana-themed wax museum, a unique tribute to the epic that defines India's spiritual and cultural heritage.
  • Built opposite Kashiram Colony along the Chaudah Kosi Parikrama route, the 9,850 sq ft fully air-conditioned museum recreates the divine aura of the 'Treta Yuga', offering visitors a vivid, immersive experience. It features 50 lifelike wax statues of Ramayana characters, including Lord Ram, Sita, Hanuman and Ravana, each crafted with meticulous attention to expression, costume and posture.
  • Designed in South Indian architectural style, the two-storey museum traces the journey from Ram Lalla's childhood to the Ram-Ravana war, enhanced by 3D lighting effects, devotional music and the fragrance of sandalwood. Only 100 visitors will be allowed at a time to ensure an intimate experience.

Pottery, Terracotta Products at Mati Kala Mahotsav

  • The Khadi Bhawan in Lucknow came alive with the inauguration of the Mati Kala Mahotsav 2025, a 10-day celebration of Uttar Pradesh's traditional pottery and terracotta craftsmanship. The festival was inaugurated by Rakesh Sachan, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Khadi, Handloom, and Textiles, who described it as a confluence of tradition and innovation.
  • During the event, the minister launched the Mati Kala portal and e-Verification Mobile App, developed by the Uttar Pradesh Mati Kala Board to streamline digital registration and verification of artisans across the state. The platform aims to provide a transparent and accessible interface for potters to access govt benefits, training, and marketing support.
  • The Mati Kala Mahotsav 2025 concludes on October 19.
