Salah Wins PFA Player of the Year Award

  • Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was named the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year, with the Egyptian becoming the first player to win the award three times.
  • Salah, who joined Liverpool in 2017, was the Premier League's top scorer last season, with his 29 goals, along with 18 assists, playing a key role in the club winning the league title, finishing 10 points ahead of runners-up Arsenal.
  • Salah had already clinched the Premier League Player of the Season award, the Golden Boot for most goals scored and the Playmaker award for most assists, making him the first player to win all three awards in the same season.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh Confers the National Anubhav Awards 2025

  • Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Jitendra Singh conferred the National Anubhav Awards 2025 in New Delhi. The awards honour retired and retiring government employees for documenting their experiences and contributions through the Anubhav portal, launched in 2015 to preserve administrative history through personal memoirs.
  • This year (2025), 15 awardees from 11 Ministries and Departments were selected from nearly 1,500 write-ups. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) led with four awards, followed by two from DRDO. For the first time, employees from SBI, BHEL, the Department of Land Resources, and the Ministry of Jal Shakti were also honoured. Notably, 33% of the awardees were women, reflecting their growing role in governance.
  • Since its launch, the Anubhav portal has published over 12,500 write-ups and conferred 78 awards.

  • Breaking with tradition, he will also host the show later this year celebrating the recipients of one of the country's highest recognitions of artists.

Nation Honours 1,090 Personnel with Gallantry and Service Medals

  • Ahead of the country's 79th Independence Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced that 1,090 personnel from Police, Fire, Home Guard & Civil Defence, and Correctional Services were honoured with Gallantry and Service Medals this year.
  • Among the honourees, 233 were presented with the prestigious Medal for Gallantry (GM), recognised for acts of exceptional courage in saving lives, protecting property, curbing crime, or apprehending offenders—even at great personal risk.
  • Ninety-nine personnel received the President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) was awarded to 758 individuals.

Bibi Fatima Women's SHG Wins UNDP Equator Prize 2025 for Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainabl...

  • The Bibi Fatima Women's Self-Help Group (SHG) won the Equator Prize 2025 awarded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)—often referred to as the "Nobel Prize for Biodiversity Conservation".
  • This recognition celebrates their pioneering work in eco-friendly farming, community seed banking, millet promotion, and women-led rural entrepreneurship.
  • As per UNDP official release, Bibi Fatima Women's SHG is the sole group from India to win the award, other winners are from Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Indonesia, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Peru, and Tanzania. The award includes a cash prize of $10,000 (approximately Rs. 8.5 lakh). This year's award selection was based on the theme 'Women and Youth Leadership for Nature-Based Climate Action'. Around 700 competitors from 103 countries competed for the prize.
