Siddharth Balachandran Receives Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Medal for Philanthropy

  • Siddharth Balachandran, a UAE-based Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist, was awarded the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Medal for Philanthropy, one of the highest civilian honours in the United Arab Emirates for humanitarian work.
  • The award, presented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, recognises individuals and organisations for their exceptional contributions to charitable causes and social impact initiatives in the region.
  • Balachandran was honoured for what officials described as his 'outstanding effort and contribution to the enrichment of charitable and humanitarian work' across the UAE and India.

Rohini Gram Panchayat Wins Gold in National e-Governance Awards 2025

  • In an achievement for rural digital transformation, Rohini Gram Panchayat in Shirpur taluka, Dhule district, Maharashtra, won the Gold Award in the National e-Governance Awards 2025. Despite being a 100% tribal village, Rohini emerged as a national model for technology-driven rural governance. The Gram Panchayat was selected from over 1.45 lakh entries across India in the Grassroots Level Initiatives category and received the award at the 28th National e-Governance Conference in Visakhapatnam.
  • The award is presented by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Recognized for implementing over 956 digital services, the village is a model of digital inclusion, especially for Scheduled Areas.

New Category Introduced Under National e-Governance Awards 2025

  • In a move to strengthen grassroots governance, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, in collaboration with the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, introduced a dedicated category under the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2025 to recognise outstanding digital initiatives by Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). A first-of-its-kind recognition for PRIs, a new award category titled 'Grassroots Level Initiatives for Deepening Service Delivery at Gram Panchayats or Equivalent Traditional Local Bodies' was introduced to honour exemplary digital initiatives by Panchayats. This category aims to acknowledge the role of Gram Panchayats in enhancing ease of living and improving the quality of life through effective, transparent and citizen-centric service delivery.
  • After a rigorous multi-tier evaluation at the Block, District, State, and National levels, four Gram Panchayats emerged as winners from over 1.45 lakh entries received from 26 States and Union Territories under the newly introduced award category.

  • Silver Award: West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat, West Tripura District, Tripura
