IIT Madras Develops Test Track for 1,100 km/h Avishkar Hyperloop

  • IIT Madras successfully completed a 410-meter test track for Hyperloop, marking an important milestone in India's journey towards advanced transportation systems, following Bullet Train and Hydrogen Train tests. The completion of this track was announced by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Vaishnaw praised the efforts of the Railways, the IIT Madras Avishkar Hyperloop team, and TuTr, an incubated start-up at the institute, for their contributions to the project.
  • Hyperloop technology is designed to revolutionise transportation by allowing pods to travel at speeds of up to 1,100 km/h. These pods will move through low-pressure tubes, creating a frictionless environment that will not only increase the speed of travel but also improve energy efficiency.

IndiGo Ranks among Worst Airlines Globally in AirHelp 2024 Report

  • India's largest airline IndiGo was listed among the world's worst airlines by European air passenger claims processing and facilitating agency AirHelp, which ranked the airline at the 103rd spot out of a total of 109 airlines in the rankings. Reacting to the AirHelp rankings, IndiGo has refuted the survey and even questioned its credibility.
  • AirHelp releases an annual ranking of international airlines and airports. The rankings for airlines are based on three criteria — on-time performance, customer opinion, and processing of compensation claims. According to AirHelp, the three criteria contribute to the airline's score in equal measure, or 33.33 per cent each.
  • Brussels Airlines was ranked at the pole position, followed by Qatar Airways, and United Airlines with scores of 8.12, 8.11, and 8.04, respectively.
