India Tops Global Domestic Flight Load Rankings
India emerged as the global leader in passenger load factor (PLF) for domestic flights, recording an impressive 86.4% in 2024, surpassing the US (84.1%) and China (83.2%), according to the latest International Air Transport Association (IATA) report. India's booming aviation sector carried 16.3 crore domestic passengers in 2024, highlighting its rapid growth and efficiency.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah virtually launched a significant programme from Ahmedabad aimed at making international travel seamless for Indian citizens and OCI cardholders.
The programme, titled 'Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Program' (FTI-TTP), the programme is now operational at the following seven airports: Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin and Ahmedabad.
The objective of the programme is to provide world-class immigration facilities to travellers, making international travel seamless and secure. Initially, this facility has been launched free of cost for Indian citizens and OCI cardholders.

IATO Appoints New Chapter Manager in Punjab
The IATO (Indian Association of Tour Operators) Executive Committee appointed Gurinder Singh as the Chairman of the IATO Punjab Chapter with immediate effect. Singh, the Managing Director of Discover Punjab Tours & Travels will lead the association's efforts in fostering ties with the local tourism industry and government bodies.
As a seasoned tourism professional, his deep industry knowledge and strong bonds with the Punjab government are likely to play a significant role in achieving the association's goals and targets.
With this appointment, IATO is eyeing to expand its membership base in the state while creating more tourism opportunities.

Jammu Becomes Indian Railways' 69th Division
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Jammu Railway Division, marking it as the 69th division under the Northern Railway Zone. This strategic move aims to enhance connectivity and foster socio-economic development in the northernmost regions of India.
The newly established division, headquartered in Jammu, encompasses a network of 742.1 route km. It includes key sections such as Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla (423 km), Bhogpur-Sirwal-Pathankot (87.21 km), Batala-Pathankot (68.17 km), and the narrow-gauge Pathankot-Joginder Nagar line (163.72 km).
This reorganisation, carved out from the Firozpur Division, is poised to streamline train operations and improve management efficiency in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and the Leh-Ladakh regions.

Ghana Opens Up Visa-free Travel to All Africans
All African passport holders are now able to visit Ghana without needing a visa, outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo has said.
Ghana is now the fifth African country to offer this to travellers from the rest of the continent.
Rwanda, Seychelles, the Gambia and Benin are the others.
