VIT Chancellor Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

  • The Founder and Chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), G. Viswanathan, was conferred with the lifetime achievement award by former Union Minister for Education Murli Manohar Joshi at a function in New Delhi.
  • The award was given at the eighth Annual Conclave Federation of World Academics (FWA) held in New Delhi. On the occasion, senior academic leaders from leading Government and private institutions in the country were present.

Trump Receives South Korea's Top Honour and Golden Crown

  • U.S. President Donald Trump was welcomed to South Korea in October 2025, with a replica golden crown and the Grand Order of Mugunghwa—South Korea's highest national honour. His visit came during a crucial moment for Asia-Pacific diplomacy, with economic and security discussions unfolding amid the upcoming APEC Summit.
  • The Grand Order of Mugunghwa is South Korea's highest order of merit, typically reserved for heads of state and royalty.

'Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak' Awarded for the Year 2025

  • The 'Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak' was awarded to 1,466 personnel of various States/Union Territories (UTs)/Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)/Central Police Organisations (CPOs) for the year 2025.
  • The medal is given to recognise excellent work, promote high professional standards and boost the morale of the concerned official/officer in the following four fields: (i) Special Operation, (ii) Investigation, (iii) Intelligence and (iv) Forensic Science.

  • The Government of India announced the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025, the country's highest recognition for exemplary and inspirational contributions in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.

IIT Madras Bags Three National Science Awards

  • Three professors from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras were selected for the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025, one of the highest honours given by India for outstanding contributions to science and technology.
  • The recipients – Professor Thalappil Pradeep, Professor Mohanasankar Sivaprakasam, and Professor Shweta Prem Agrawal – have been recognised for their research in chemistry, healthcare innovation, and cryptography, respectively.
  • Professor Thalappil Pradeep of the Department of Chemistry was conferred with the Vigyan Shri award.
  • The Vigyan Yuva - Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar award was given to Prof. Mohanasankar Sivaprakasam of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Prof. Shweta Prem Agrawal of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

  • The Government of India instituted to recognise and promote pathbreaking research and inspiring achievement, the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar is conferred under four categories:
  • Vigyan Ratna (VR) award will recognise lifetime achievements & contributions made in any field of science and technology.
  • Vigyan Shri (VS) award will recognise distinguished contributions in any field of science and technology.
  • Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (VY-SSB) award will recognize & encourage young scientists up to the age of 45 years who have made an exceptional contribution in any field of science and technology.
  • Vigyan Team (VT) award to be given to a team comprising three or more scientists/researchers/innovators who have made an exceptional contribution working in a team in any field of science and technology.
